JSW MG Motor India to Launch 4 New Electrified SUVs in 2026

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up for a major product offensive in 2026 with the launch of four new SUVs, a majority of which will be fully electric or electrified. This aggressive expansion underlines the company’s strong push into the fast-growing New Energy Vehicle (NEV) segment in India.

The four upcoming models include the MG S5 (electric), MG Starlight 560 (in both PHEV and EV versions), and the premium MG iM6 electric SUV-coupe. These launches follow the recent unveiling of the flagship MG Majestor and aim to strengthen MG’s presence across multiple SUV segments — from mass-market to premium.

1. MG S5 EV – The ZS EV Replacement

The MG S5 is an all-new electric SUV that will directly replace the ageing MG ZS EV in the Indian market. Positioned in the compact-to-mid-size electric SUV space, the S5 is expected to compete with popular models like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti e-Vitara.

  • Expected to offer a real-world competitive range of around 450–500 km (depending on battery variant).
  • Built on a modern “born-EV” platform with a flat floor for improved interior space and rear legroom.
  • Likely to be priced in the ₹22–28 lakh (ex-showroom) range, making it a strong value proposition in the growing mid-size EV segment.

The S5 is slated for a launch later in 2026 and is expected to bring better efficiency, more modern design, and upgraded features compared to the current ZS EV.

2. MG Starlight 560 PHEV – India’s First Mass-Market Plug-in Hybrid SUV

One of the most significant launches will be the MG Starlight 560 PHEV, which is expected to become India’s first mainstream plug-in hybrid SUV. Based on the Wuling Starlight 560, this large 5/7-seater SUV measures approximately 4,745 mm in length with a 2,810 mm wheelbase, offering spacious interiors and practical three-row seating.PHEV Powertrain Highlights:

  • 1.5-litre petrol engine + electric motor
  • Combined output: Around 194 hp and 230 Nm
  • Battery: ~20.5 kWh
  • Pure electric range: Up to 100 km (CLTC)
  • Excellent total range (petrol + electric) making it ideal for long highway drives with minimal range anxiety

This model will rival the Mahindra XUV700 and XUV 7XO, offering lower running costs than pure petrol SUVs while providing the convenience of hybrid technology.

3. MG Starlight 560 EV – All-Electric Variant

Alongside the PHEV, MG is also expected to introduce the all-electric version of the Starlight 560.

  • Battery: Around 56.7 kWh
  • Power: 136 hp and 200 Nm (similar to the MG Windsor EV setup)
  • Claimed range: Up to 500 km (CLTC cycle)

This variant will target buyers looking for a spacious, family-friendly electric SUV with decent range and practicality.

4. MG iM6 – Premium Electric SUV Coupe

The MG iM6 will be MG’s new flagship electric offering under the premium MG Select retail channel. This stylish SUV-coupe is positioned as a more aspirational product, expected to rival the Tesla Model Y, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and BYD Sealion 7.Expected Highlights:

  • Large battery pack (up to 100 kWh in some global variants)
  • Claimed range: 600 km+
  • 800V architecture for ultra-fast charging
  • Sporty coupe styling with premium interiors and advanced tech
  • Expected price: ₹60–70 lakh (ex-showroom)

The iM6 is likely to launch around August–October 2026 and will be imported as a CBU initially.

These four electrified SUVs are part of JSW MG Motor India’s broader five-year growth plan. With the Majestor (ICE) already launched or launching soon, the focus on EVs and PHEVs shows the company’s commitment to offering customers multiple powertrain choices — pure petrol/diesel, hybrid, and full electric — under one roof.

The launches are expected to span from mid-2026 to early 2027, with the Starlight 560 PHEV possibly arriving as early as October 2026.With rising demand for greener mobility options and improving charging infrastructure, these new models could significantly boost MG’s market share in both the mass-market and premium SUV segments in India
