JSW MG IM6 Electric Headed to India, Launch Details Confirmed

JSW MG Motor India is gearing up to strengthen its premium electric vehicle lineup. While the company prepares to announce the prices of the recently unveiled Majestor SUV, it has confirmed plans to introduce another exciting new model in the coming months — the MG IM6 electric SUV coupe.

Set to arrive in India in August 2026, the IM6 will mark a significant addition to MG’s high-end offerings. Bookings are expected to open in July 2026, and the model will be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). It will be retailed exclusively through MG’s premium Select retail channel, positioning it as an accessible entry point into the luxury EV segment, below the larger M9 MPV.

The MG IM6 boasts a stylish SUV coupe silhouette with a fastback roofline, aerodynamic contours, and a sporty stance. The model was previously showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo in India, where its bold design — featuring sharp L-shaped LED headlights, sculpted body lines, and a connected taillight signature — received strong attention from enthusiasts.

Built on an advanced 800V platform, the IM6 supports ultra-fast charging. It comes equipped with a 100 kWh battery pack and is expected to deliver a claimed range of over 600 km in certain configurations (international figures show up to 555–625 km depending on the variant and test cycle).Powertrain options include:

  • Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): Approximately 401–408 hp and 500 Nm torque, with 0–100 km/h acceleration in around 5.4 seconds.
  • All-Wheel Drive (AWD): Up to 741–778 hp and 802 Nm torque, capable of sprinting from 0–100 km/h in just 3.4–3.5 seconds.

The 800V system enables rapid DC charging, with reports indicating 10–80% charge in as little as 18 minutes (or 30–80% in about 15 minutes at peak power).

The interior of the IM6 is highly tech-focused, highlighted by a massive 26.3-inch panoramic display that spans across the dashboard. It also features advanced computing hardware, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 and NVIDIA Orin processors, supporting smooth infotainment and sophisticated driver assistance systems.Key highlights include:

  • LIDAR sensors for enhanced autonomous driving capabilities
  • Level 2+ ADAS suite
  • Premium audio system with up to 20 speakers
  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Four-wheel steering in select variants

The spacious 5-seater cabin uses premium materials and offers generous boot space along with thoughtful storage solutions.

The MG IM6 is anticipated to be priced in the range of ₹60–70 lakh (ex-showroom). This positions it as a direct rival to models like the Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 5 in India’s growing premium electric SUV segment.

By introducing the IM6 via the CBU route under the exclusive Select network, JSW MG Motor aims to deliver a high-tech, performance-oriented electric experience to premium buyers who value style, speed, and cutting-edge features. This launch forms part of MG’s aggressive expansion in the Indian EV and luxury space, following the Majestor price announcement and ongoing deliveries of other models.

The arrival of the stylish IM6 electric SUV coupe in August 2026 is expected to further intensify competition in the premium EV market.
