Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced the next phase of its Reimagine strategy, introducing greater propulsion flexibility across its House of Brands while reaffirming Jaguar’s position as a pure-electric luxury marque. Under the updated plan, the Range Rover, Defender, and Discovery line-ups will offer customers a full spectrum of powertrain options, including Mild Hybrid (MHEV), full Hybrid (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) variants. This shift aims to provide broader customer choice, enhance global market resilience, and support medium-term double-digit revenue growth amid varying regional demand for electrification. Jaguar, however, will stay firmly on its all-electric path.
JLR’s Chief Executive Officer, PB Balaji, highlighted the strategic evolution: “Now is the time to evolve our plan to offer global markets greater propulsion choice to unlock growth and build resilience.
”Key upcoming launches include the Range Rover Electric, Range Rover Sport Electric, and the new Jaguar Type 01 — an all-electric four-door Grand Tourer that marks the beginning of Jaguar’s new electric era. Additional models from the Range Rover and Defender families will follow on JLR’s new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA). The EMA platform, originally conceived as an 800-volt EV architecture, has now been expanded to also support full hybrid powertrains.
This pragmatic approach allows JLR to maintain its long-term commitment to electrification — with ambitions to become carbon net-zero by 2039 — while adapting to current market realities. The company plans to launch five new products over the next two years as part of this accelerated Reimagine phase.
By offering multiple electrified options under its iconic Land Rover sub-brands while keeping Jaguar as a dedicated electric-only brand, JLR aims to strengthen its position in the luxury segment and deliver modern luxury vehicles tailored to diverse customer needs worldwide. Full details on individual model timelines and specifications are expected in the coming months.
