JSW MG Motor India has hiked the prices of its best-selling electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV, by up to ₹60,000. The revised prices are effective from July 2026.

The MG Windsor EV continues to be one of the most popular and highest-selling electric cars in India, thanks to its spacious cabin, feature-rich interior, and competitive pricing (especially with the Battery-as-a-Service or BaaS option). However, rising input and production costs have forced the company to increase prices across its lineup.

Two Battery Pack Options Remain

The MG Windsor EV continues to be offered with two battery packs:

  • 38 kWh LFP Battery (Standard variants): Claimed range of 332 km. Suitable for city commuting.
  • 52.9 kWh LFP Battery (Pro variants): Claimed range of 449 km. Better suited for longer drives with improved fast-charging capability (up to 60 kW).

Both versions use the same front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 136 PS and 200 Nm of torque. The car offers a relaxed and comfortable driving experience with multiple drive modes.

Why Has MG Increased Prices?

According to industry sources, the hike is primarily due to rising production costs, including raw materials for batteries and other components, along with general inflationary pressures. Several other automakers (including Tata, Kia, and Toyota) have also implemented price revisions in July 2026. Despite the increase, the Windsor EV remains one of the most value-for-money electric vehicles in the segment, especially when opting for the BaaS (Battery as a Service) scheme, which significantly reduces the upfront cost.

Key Highlights of MG Windsor EV

  • Spacious & Comfortable Cabin: 135° reclining rear seats, panoramic glass roof (higher variants), and premium dual-tone interiors.
  • Feature Loaded: 15.6-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, 360° camera, ADAS (on top variants), premium Infinity audio system, wireless charging, and V2L/V2V capability.
  • Practicality: Good boot space and family-friendly dimensions.
  • Sales Success: The Windsor EV has been a consistent top performer, contributing heavily to MG’s EV sales in India.

Should You Buy Now?

  • If you were planning to buy the base Excite variant, the ₹60,000 hike is significant. Booking soon (before any further revisions) may help.
  • Higher variants with the 52.9 kWh battery still offer strong value for those needing better range.
  • The BaaS option continues to make the car attractive for cost-conscious buyers.

While the price increase is unwelcome, the MG Windsor EV remains a strong contender in the electric crossover segment due to its space, features, and real-world usability. Buyers should compare it with rivals like the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400, and upcoming models before making a decision.
