Hyundai Staria Electric MPV Breaks Cover: A Futuristic Flagship with Up to 400 km Range

Hyundai has taken a major step in electrifying its multi-purpose vehicle lineup with the world premiere of the Staria Electric at the Brussels Motor Show 2026. Unveiled on January 9, 2026, this all-electric flagship MPV builds on the bold, spaceship-inspired design of the original Staria, now combining zero-emission performance with exceptional space, practicality, and fast-charging technology. Positioned as Hyundai’s largest EV to date, the Staria Electric targets families, leisure users, and commercial operators seeking sustainable mobility without compromises.

At the heart of the Staria Electric is an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery paired with a 160 kW (218 PS) front-wheel-drive electric motor, delivering smooth, quiet acceleration and up to 350 Nm of torque. The advanced 800-volt architecture—proven in Hyundai’s IONIQ lineup—enables ultra-fast DC charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes under optimal conditions. For everyday use, an 11 kW AC onboard charger supports convenient home or workplace charging.T

he MPV achieves an estimated WLTP range of up to 400 km (about 249 miles), making it one of the longest-range electric people-movers in its class. It also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability for powering external devices, plus a braked towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg, ideal for trailers, boats, or leisure gear.

Hyundai’s “Inside Out” design philosophy prioritizes cabin comfort, resulting in a lounge-like atmosphere with a flat floor, high roofline, and expansive windows for excellent visibility and openness. The horizontal layout includes dual 12.3-inch displays for infotainment and driver information, the next-generation ccNC platform with over-the-air (OTA) updates, and clever storage solutions. The Staria Electric launches in two configurations:

  • 7-seater Luxury variant: Focuses on premium comfort with adjustable seats, generous legroom/headroom, ventilation/heating options, and up to 435 liters of luggage space behind the third row.
  • 9-seater Wagon variant: Geared toward larger families or shuttle services, offering flexible sliding/foldable seats and up to 1,303 liters of cargo capacity.

The vehicle comes equipped with Hyundai Smart

Sense advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, and more, ensuring confidence in urban, highway, and parking scenarios.

Launch and Market PlansProduction will take place at Hyundai’s Ulsan plant in Korea, with sales starting in Korea and Europe during the first half of 2026, followed by additional global markets.

Hyundai previously showcased the ICE-powered Staria at India’s Auto Expo 2025 to gauge interest in the premium MPV segment. While the electric version isn’t expected in India immediately, the company hasn’t ruled out a future introduction as demand for high-end, spacious people-movers grows.

The Hyundai Staria Electric represents a bold evolution in family and commercial mobility—futuristic styling meets real-world electric practicality. With its impressive range, rapid charging, and cavernous interior, it sets a new benchmark for zero-emission MPVs.
