Honda ZR-V Hybrid SUV: Honda’s Sporty Premium Hybrid Makes a Strong India Entry

honda reveals zr v hybrid

Honda has unveiled the all-new ZR-V Hybrid SUV in India, positioning it as a premium, sporty crossover with strong performance and excellent efficiency. Bookings are now open, though the official price is yet to be announced (expectations hover around ₹40-50 lakh ex-showroom, placing it in contention with models like the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron).

The ZR-V is powered by Honda’s 2.0-litre e:HEV strong hybrid system. It combines a direct-injection petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 181 bhp (around 184 PS) and a healthy 315 Nm of torque.

What stands out immediately is the instant torque delivery from the electric motor. All that twist is available from the word go, making the SUV feel quick and responsive in every situation. Honda claims a 0-100 km/h time of around 7.9 seconds, with a top speed limited to about 173 km/h.

On the track, I pushed it through a 0-150 km/h run — the linear power delivery and strong mid-range punch made overtakes effortless and the acceleration confidence-inspiring. It’s not a raw sports car, but for a family-oriented hybrid SUV, it feels engaging and planted.

Fuel efficiency is another highlight: Honda claims up to 22.8 kmpl, making it one of the more frugal options in the premium segment.

The ZR-V handles surprisingly well for its size. It measures approximately 4,657 mm in length, making it one of the larger vehicles in Honda’s Indian lineup. The suspension setup keeps body roll in check while maintaining comfort, and the steering feels accurate and well-weighted.Drive modes (including Sport) sharpen throttle response and allow the petrol engine to stay more engaged, which was perfect for the track session. The e-CVT transmission is smooth, with simulated shifts that avoid the typical rubber-band feel.

The ZR-V sports a bold, athletic stance with sleek lines, a sporty front grille, and premium detailing. Inside, expect high-quality materials, a spacious cabin for five, and thoughtful ergonomics typical of Honda.Key features likely include:

  • Honda SENSING ADAS suite
  • 8 airbags
  • Bose premium audio
  • Wireless charging, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • 360-degree camera and more

It’s imported from Japan and positioned as Honda’s most premium SUV offering in the market.

The Honda ZR-V Hybrid blends strong performance, instant electric torque, impressive efficiency, and premium refinement in a stylish package. My track experience confirmed it’s quick enough for enthusiastic driving while remaining comfortable and efficient for daily use. A full detailed review and video from my track session will drop on my channel this weekend

stay tuned for more impressions, interior walkthroughs, and real-world insights.

In the meantime, here are a few more images from the session. Bookings are open — if you’re in the market for a refined, efficient, and fun-to-drive premium hybrid SUV, the ZR-V is definitely worth considering once prices are out.
