Govt-Backed Raptee.HV’s T30 Set to Hit Roads by November: Igniting India’s High-Voltage EV Motorcycle Boom?

In the bustling streets of Chennai, where innovation meets India’s relentless two-wheeler frenzy, Raptee.HV is gearing up to unleash what could be a game-changer in the electric mobility space. The startup, backed by the government’s Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science & Technology, is poised to commence commercial production and deliveries of its flagship T30 electric motorcycle this November. With over 8,000 pre-bookings already in the bag—achieved without a single rupee spent on marketing—Raptee.HV’s high-voltage powerhouse is not just arriving; it’s arriving with momentum that could accelerate India’s push toward 30% EV adoption in two-wheelers by 2030.

Motorcycles dominate nearly two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market, making their electrification a linchpin for national green goals. Raptee.HV, the only Indian EV motorcycle OEM to secure TDB funding—previously awarded to heavyweights like Bharat Biotech for Covaxin—is betting big on high-voltage (HV) car-derived technology to crack this code. As Dinesh Arjun, CEO and Co-founder, puts it, “High voltage motorcycles are our USP. In India, for motorcycles to become popular you need high voltage.” This isn’t hype; it’s a six-year odyssey of ground-up R&D that positions the T30 as the nation’s first proven HV electric bike, certified by ARAI in February 2025.

T30: Performance Packed with Car-Like Tech

The T30 isn’t your average commuter e-bike—it’s engineered for thrill and efficiency, borrowing from electric car architectures to deliver a top speed of 135 km/h and a 0-60 km/h sprint in just 3.5 seconds. Powered by a robust 22 kW motor, it boasts a claimed range of 200 km on a single charge, making it versatile for urban dashes and inter-city jaunts. The heart of the beast? A high-voltage battery system compatible with standard car chargers, a rarity in the two-wheeler segment that slashes range anxiety by tapping into India’s growing EV infrastructure.

Priced aggressively at ₹2.39 lakh ex-showroom, the T30 features a sleek, car-like design with a 7-inch touchscreen for navigation and connectivity, plus an 8-year/80,000 km battery warranty that underscores Raptee. HV’s confidence in longevity. Safety and smarts come via ABS, LED lighting, and app-based tracking, while the lightweight frame ensures agile handling. Deliveries for early bookings kick off in Chennai and Bangalore from Q3 2025, with a modest ₹1,000 token to lock in your spot.

HV’s journey is a testament to bootstrapped grit. Founded in Chennai, the company has poured over six years into proprietary HV tech, emerging as the sole player adapting electric car-grade systems to bikes. Their track record shines with a ₹3.25 crore non-dilutive grant from ARAI-AMTIF in 2021—the only OEM to snag it—and a $5 million pre-Series A round, with a $20 million Series A in the works via debt and equity.

Production wisdom tempers ambition: Arjun reveals, “We are going to start putting bikes on the road for end customers, and our production will start from November. We will scale up slowly towards 300 bikes a month.” The Oragadam facility boasts a current capacity of 1,500 units monthly, expandable to 9,000—or a whopping 100,000 annually. To fuel this growth, Raptee.HV has snapped up an additional 40 acres of land, future-proofing against surging demand.

A media launch is slated for late October, paving the way for mass volumes. With 8,000 orders already secured, Arjun adds, “Our production capacity is around 1,500 units a month. This facility can be increased to 9,000 units a month or 100,000 units a year in volume. We got another 40 acres of land, which will help us scale this up even further. We have already got around 8,000 units so far, without any marketing spend.”

Retail Revolution: From 60 to 100 CitiesRaptee.

HV isn’t content with factory floors—they’re plotting a retail blitz to embed the T30 in everyday Indian life. “By the third year, we want to be in 60 cities and fourth year in 100 cities, mostly Tier I and Tier II,” Arjun envisions. This aggressive footprint will target urban hubs and emerging markets, leveraging the TDB’s $1 billion performance EV category push to democratize high-speed electrics.

In a market flooded with low-voltage commuters, Raptee.HV’s HV edge—certified this February—promises faster acceleration, quicker charging, and superior efficiency, all while keeping costs competitive. As India hurtles toward its 2030 EV targets, electrifying the motorcycle masses is non-negotiable, and Raptee.HV is revving up to lead the charge.

The Road Ahead: A Charged Future for Indian EVs?

The T30’s November debut could spark a revolution, blending government backing, tech innovation, and market savvy. For riders craving speed without the emissions guilt, it’s a siren call. As Arjun sums up the ethos: “By the end of October, we plan our media launch. Post that, we will start mass volume.” With pre-bookings pouring in and scalability locked in, Raptee.HV isn’t just building bikes—it’s building momentum for India’s electric tomorrow. Buckle up; the HV era is here.
