Electric two-wheeler sales of the mentioned models crossed 1,87,214 units in August 2026 compared to 76,118 units in the same period last year. This is an increase of 146 percent year-over-year and an addition of 1,11,096 units from the previous year, indicating the burgeoning trend towards electric vehicles in India’s two-wheeler market. However, the mentioned figures are for the mentioned models only, and do not represent the entire electric two-wheeler segment. Nevertheless, they indicate the bullish trend on e-bikes in the country, as represented by the models mentioned below. Whereas Bajaj Chetak emerged as the individual model leader with sales of 52,248 units in August 2026, up 273 percent year-over-year from 14,014 units, TVS Motor Company emerged as the manufacturer leader with sales of 57,523 units.
The company’s iQube and newly launched Orbiter recorded a combined 57,523 units, with the iQube accounting for 42,882 of these. This represents a 76 percent increase year-over-year for the iQube, and a stellar 14,641 units for the Orbiter in its debut month. Bajaj remained close behind with a total of 52,248 units, all of which were due to the Chetak.
Hero’s Vida came in third in individual model sales with a total of 25,558 units, up 108 percent year-over-year from 12,273 units. Ather Energy’s Rizta followed with 22,586 units, representing a steady 30 percent increase from 17,344 units. Greaves Electric Mobility’s Magnus recorded a fine 9,772 units, nearly doubling its numbers from before.
Newer or recently launched models such as the Ather 450, River Indie, Honda QC1 and Suzuki e-Access also posted significant numbers, showing the healthy competition in the segment. In short, the segment witnessed healthy competition as established players continued to consolidate their position while new entrants looked to make an impact. Double and triple-digit growth rates across the board point to the segment witnessing a healthy uptick in infrastructure, consumer adoption and product offerings as manufacturers look to expand their portfolios and production capabilities in the coming months.
