BYD Unveils Next-Gen Atto 3 at Beijing Auto Show 2026: Up to 630 km Range & Ultra-Fast 9-Minute Charging

Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD has unveiled the next-generation Atto 3 (known as the Yuan Plus in its home market) at the Beijing Auto Show 2026. The refreshed compact electric SUV brings significant upgrades in range, performance, and ultra-fast charging technology, positioning it as a stronger contender in the highly competitive segment.

The new Atto 3 is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery (Blade Battery 2.0) and supports the brand’s advanced Flash Charging system. This enables the battery to charge from 10% to 97% in just 9 minutes when connected to BYD’s new high-power Flash Chargers (capable of up to 1,500 kW). It can also achieve 10% to 70% in approximately 5 minutes under optimal conditions. Even in extreme cold temperatures of -30°C, the charging time increases by only about 3 minutes, thanks to improved thermal management in the new battery technology.

Two battery variants are available:

  • 57.545 kWh Blade Battery paired with a 200 kW (268–272 hp) rear-mounted electric motor, offering up to 540 km CLTC range.
  • 68.547 kWh Blade Battery with a more powerful 240 kW (322–326 hp) rear motor, delivering up to 630 km CLTC-rated range.

The shift to a new rear-wheel-drive platform (with a longer wheelbase compared to the previous generation) contributes to better dynamics, efficiency, and interior space. The higher-output version produces impressive performance while maintaining the safety advantages of BYD’s signature LFP Blade Battery chemistry.

The new-generation Atto 3 features a sharper, more modern exterior design along with an upgraded interior. It also introduces advanced driver assistance capabilities, including the LiDAR-equipped DiPilot 300 system for enhanced autonomous driving support. A continuous damping suspension system is added for improved ride comfort and handling.

The debut comes as BYD continues to refine its bestselling models to maintain dominance in China’s crowded EV market. The new Atto 3/Yuan Plus directly addresses key consumer pain points — range anxiety and long charging stops — with class-leading specifications in the compact SUV category.

While the model has been revealed in China, international availability (including markets like India, Europe, and Australia where the Atto 3 is popular) and exact pricing are expected to be announced in the coming months. A separate refreshed version called the Atto 3 Evo has already been introduced in some global markets earlier in 2026 with different specifications.

With its combination of extended range, ultra-rapid charging, and increased power, the new-generation BYD Atto 3 raises the bar for affordable electric SUVs and signals a new era of practical, fast-charging everyday EVs.
