BYD has expanded the eMax 7 electric MPV range with a new Comfort trim positioned between the existing Premium and Superior versions. The Comfort is priced at Rs 27.90 lakh for the six-seat version and Rs 28.30 lakh for the seven-seater, ex-showroom.

This strategic addition comes alongside a broader price revision across BYD’s EV lineup in India, effective from July 2026, attributed to rising input costs and inflationary pressures. The new Comfort variant effectively replaces or renames the previous entry-level Premium trim while offering significantly better value through a larger battery pack.

The standout feature of the new Comfort trim is its 71.8 kWh Blade Battery — the same larger pack found in the top-spec Superior variant. This delivers a claimed MIDC-certified range of up to 485 km on a single charge, a substantial upgrade over the smaller 55.4 kWh battery in the base Premium trim (which offers around 420 km).

Power comes from a front-wheel-drive electric motor producing 161 bhp (120 kW) and 310 Nm of torque. While this is less powerful than the Superior’s 201 bhp motor, it provides adequate performance for family-oriented use, with smooth acceleration and three drive modes (Eco, Normal, and Sport). The battery supports DC fast charging up to 115 kW, enabling convenient top-ups for longer trips.

BYD’s move creates a clear three-tier structure for the eMax 7:

  • Premium — Smaller 55.4 kWh battery, lower range.
  • Comfort (new) — Larger 71.8 kWh battery with base-level features and motor.
  • Superior — Larger battery plus higher power output and premium features like Level 2 ADAS, panoramic glass roof, ventilated seats, and more.

The Comfort trim targets buyers who prioritize real-world range and practicality for family travel or fleet use without needing the full suite of luxury and advanced driver assistance features. It bridges the gap effectively, offering the bigger battery at a more accessible price point compared to the Superior (which starts around Rs 29.30 lakh for the 6-seater).

The eMax 7 Comfort inherits a spacious, comfortable cabin typical of the model, with flexible 6- or 7-seater configurations, generous legroom, and family-friendly amenities. Expect features such as a large rotating touchscreen infotainment system, 360-degree camera, cruise control, leatherette upholstery, automatic climate control, and multiple charging options including Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability.

The eMax 7 serves as a strong electric alternative to conventional MPVs like the Toyota Innova Hycross in the Indian market. With growing demand for electric vehicles that balance range, space, and comfort, the new Comfort trim strengthens BYD’s position by making longer-range electric mobility more affordable and practical for Indian families.

Deliveries for the new variant are expected to commence soon. This launch, combined with BYD’s expanding dealer network, signals the company’s continued push to broaden its appeal in India’s evolving electric vehicle segment.
