BYD has officially launched presales of its ambitious new flagship electric sedan, the Da Han EV, also referred to as the Great Han, in the Chinese market. Unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show, the full-size luxury model targets buyers seeking exceptional range, advanced comfort features and competitive pricing in the premium segment. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive Premium variant begins at 249,900 yuan, equivalent to approximately ₹35.58 lakh based on the prevailing exchange rate of around 14.24 Indian rupees per Chinese yuan. The mid-spec rear-wheel-drive Flagship is priced at 269,900 yuan or roughly ₹38.43 lakh, while the top all-wheel-drive Flagship commands 299,900 yuan, translating to about ₹42.71 lakh.
Measuring 5,256 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,510 mm in height with a generous 3,130 mm wheelbase, the Da Han EV ranks among the largest sedans in its class and exceeds the standard Mercedes-Benz S-Class in overall length. Its sleek profile achieves a notably low drag coefficient of 0.197, contributing to efficiency. The chassis is engineered for refined ride quality and agility through dual-chamber air suspension that allows adjustable ride height and road preview functionality, paired with rear-wheel steering that reduces the turning radius to a manageable 4.95 metres. These elements help the large sedan feel more manoeuvrable in urban settings while delivering composure on highways and uneven surfaces.
At the heart of the Da Han EV lies BYD’s second-generation Blade battery technology. A substantial 102.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack powers the vehicle across all variants. The rear-wheel-drive models employ a single electric motor producing 370 kW, or about 496 horsepower, and claim a maximum CLTC range of 1,008 km. The all-wheel-drive Flagship adds a front motor for a combined output of 570 kW, equivalent to 764 horsepower, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 270 km/h, though the range drops to 880 km under the same testing cycle. Energy consumption is impressively low for a vehicle of this size, supporting the extended driving distances.Charging performance matches the ambitious range figures. The Da Han EV supports BYD’s flash charging system, which can restore the battery from 10 to 70 percent in five minutes and from 10 to 97 percent in just nine minutes under ideal conditions. Even in extreme cold, the penalty remains modest. This rapid replenishment capability significantly reduces downtime on long journeys and addresses one of the common concerns associated with electric vehicles.
Inside, the cabin emphasises luxury and passenger comfort. Soft-closing doors, a head-up display, smart dimming privacy glass that can switch between transparent and opaque states, and a high-end 31-speaker Devialet audio system form part of the equipment list. Zero-gravity style seats with extensive adjustment, ventilation, heating and massage functions enhance long-distance comfort, while premium materials including Nappa leather and wood accents create an upscale atmosphere. Advanced driver assistance comes via the LiDAR-equipped God’s Eye B system as standard across the range, adding a layer of intelligent safety and convenience features.
Positioned as the flagship sedan under BYD’s Dynasty lineup and sitting above the existing Han series, the Da Han EV represents the company’s strongest push yet into full-size luxury electric territory. Its combination of class-leading claimed range, sophisticated chassis technology, rapid charging and comprehensive features at a starting price well below many traditional European rivals has already generated considerable attention in China. While the model is currently focused on the domestic market through presales, its specifications highlight the rapid progress Chinese manufacturers continue to make in battery technology, efficiency and value. Buyers seeking a spacious, long-range electric luxury sedan now have a compelling new option that blends substantial capability with accessible pricing.
