Ather Energy has dropped another engaging teaser for its upcoming Konarc electric scooter, this time focusing on the distinctive sound that comes with its confirmed metal body construction. The short film pairs the melodic voice of folk singer Mame Khan with the resonant metallic tones produced by the scooter’s panels, creating an unexpected but memorable musical collaboration that underscores one of the model’s standout features. Magnets cling firmly to the bodywork in demonstration clips shared by CEO Tarun Mehta, leaving little doubt that Ather has moved beyond the polymer panels used on its previous models.
This marks the first production Ather scooter to feature metal body panels, placing the Konarc in select company alongside a handful of rivals that prioritize a more substantial, traditional feel. The shift is intentional as the company targets a broader family and everyday-commuter audience rather than purely performance-oriented riders. While metal construction can add weight compared with lighter composites, it often conveys durability and a sense of quality that many buyers associate with long-term reliability.The Konarc sits on Ather’s new EL platform, the first production model to do so after the earlier EL01 concept. Developed with extensive real-world data, the architecture prioritizes affordability, practicality, comfort, and ease of ownership. It supports a range of battery sizes and is engineered for more efficient manufacturing and servicing, helping Ather expand into the competitive mass-market electric scooter segment.
Alongside the metal-body reveal, Ather has also shared footage of the Konarc undergoing rigorous durability and reliability testing. The program subjects the scooter to thousands of individual tests that simulate more than a lakh kilometres of real-world use, covering rough-road impacts, water-wading, drop tests, load stress, vibration, and other demanding conditions designed to mirror years of Indian road abuse. These sequences reinforce the company’s emphasis on building a product ready for everyday challenges.
Scheduled for formal unveiling on August 29 at Ather Community Day in Bengaluru, the Konarc is positioned as a more accessible offering than the existing 450 series and Rizta. Expected pricing in the region of one lakh to just over that mark would place it firmly among volume-oriented electric scooters, while the combination of metal construction, the new platform, and proven testing aims to deliver the practicality and confidence that family buyers seek. With each successive teaser, Ather is steadily filling in the picture of a scooter designed to broaden its appeal without abandoning the engineering focus that defines the brand.
