Ather Energy is preparing to expand its portfolio with a new affordable electric scooter based on its upcoming EL platform. The model, expected to be the production version of the EL01 concept showcased at Community Day 2025, is likely to launch around the upcoming festive season.
According to sources, the new scooter will focus on practical packaging and affordable pricing, aiming to strengthen Ather’s presence in the mass-premium and entry-premium segments. It will be positioned below the Rizta and the higher-end 450 series in the company’s domestic lineup.
This upcoming model will be Ather’s first scooter built on the new EL platform, designed specifically to deliver better cost efficiency while maintaining the company’s signature focus on quality, performance, and technology.
By introducing a more accessibly priced scooter, Ather aims to accelerate its sales momentum and broaden its customer base beyond the current Rizta and 450X buyers. The EL platform scooter is expected to bring Ather’s premium feel and advanced features to a lower price point, making it attractive to a larger number of first-time electric scooter buyers.
The launch timing around the festive season — typically a strong period for two-wheeler sales in India — reflects Ather’s aggressive growth plans following its recent milestone of crossing 7 lakh cumulative sales.With the Rizta already contributing nearly 75% of current monthly sales, the new EL platform model is expected to further boost volumes by tapping into the highly competitive and high-volume affordable electric scooter segment.
