Ather Energy Milestone: Riders Now Access Over 5,000 LECCS Fast Chargers Across 395+ Cities in India

In a major boost to India’s electric two-wheeler ecosystem, Ather Energy has announced that its riders can now tap into over 5,000 public fast chargers equipped with the LECCS (Light Electric Combined Charging System) connector. This expansive network, revealed on January 8, 2026, covers more than 395 cities nationwide and includes 3,675+ chargers directly operated by Ather Energy, plus an additional 1,400+ through strategic partner networks.

This achievement underscores Ather’s leadership in building reliable, interoperable charging infrastructure — a critical factor in accelerating EV adoption across urban and rural India.

he chargers are strategically placed across major metros, tier-2 and tier-3 cities, as well as key intercity and highway routes — supporting everything from daily commutes to longer journeys. Tier-1 cities lead the way: Bengaluru boasts over 240 LECCS chargers, while Pune, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai each feature more than 100. Even beyond the big cities, locations like Nashik, Malappuram, and Indore offer 45+ chargers, with Kozhikode and Coimbatore exceeding 65 each.

Ather pioneered the LECCS connector specifically for electric two-wheelers (E2W) and three-wheelers (E3W). In 2021, the company opened its intellectual property to foster industry-wide adoption, leading to BIS approval in 2023–2024 as the national standard (IS 17017 series). This forward-thinking move has paid off — multiple OEMs like Hero Vida and Matter, along with charge point operators such as Bolt, Kazam, and EVamp, have embraced LECCS. The result? True interoperability, allowing riders of compatible scooters to charge seamlessly across networks.

Ather Grid chargers are also integrated with Google Maps, displaying live availability and status — making it effortless for any LECCS-equipped vehicle to locate and navigate to a station.

Ather’s expansion doesn’t stop at India: Over 30 fast chargers are now operational in Nepal and Sri Lanka, marking early steps toward regional connectivity.

Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, highlighted the importance of this infrastructure: “Charging remains a key enabler for EV adoption. With over 5,000 fast chargers accessible today, Ather owners can ride confidently — whether for daily commutes or intercity trips.”This milestone reflects seven years of focused investment in urban, highway, and intercity corridors, combined with ongoing enhancements to charger design and user experience.

As India’s electric mobility revolution accelerates, Ather Energy’s robust, interoperable network sets a new benchmark — empowering riders, partners, and the industry as a whole to go further, faster, and greener! Stay tuned for more updates on this growing ecosystem.
