The electric scooter market in India has grown more competitive with buyers now having a range of choices in the ₹1 lakh to ₹1.5 lakh price range. One of the newest electric scooters to launch in this segment is the Ampere Nexus EX+, which promises a more powerful motor and a performance focussed approach, while the TVS iQube 3.1 kWh has established itself as a practical family electric scooter.
With the Nexus EX+ now priced at ₹1.30 lakh, it is competing with scooters such as the iQube 3.1 kWh, which has a comparable battery and similar pricing. Here is how the two electric scooters compare in terms of price, battery, range, performance, charging and features.
Ampere Nexus EX+ vs TVS iQube: Price
The Ampere Nexus EX+ has launched in India at an ex-showroom price of ₹1.29,999 with the option of an Intellipack connected technology package adding to the price to around ₹1.36 lakh.
The TVS iQube 3.1 kWh, on the other hand, currently has an effective ex-showroom price of around ₹1.05 lakh, with the actual price varying based on applicable incentives and state benefits. TVS lists the regular ex-showroom price, including charger and GST at ₹1.37 lakh before applicable deductions.
This means that the iQube has an advantage on effective pricing, while the Nexus EX+ takes on the role of the more performance focussed option.
Battery and Range
The Ampere Nexus EX+ features a 3 kWh LFP battery pack with a claimed 136 km IDC range. Ampere says their LFP battery is designed to be durable and support a battery life of up to 2,00,000 km.
The TVS iQube 3.1 kWh features a 3.1 kWh battery pack with an IDC range of 123 km. TVS has positioned this version as an everyday family scooter for urban commuting.
On paper, the Nexus EX+ therefore has an advantage in claimed range despite having a slightly smaller battery.
Motor and Performance
This is where the Ampere Nexus EX+ has advantages. It features a new 5 kW peak-power motor with a claimed 202 Nm of wheel torque. The scooter can accelerate from 0-40 km/h in around 4.5 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 93 km/h. Ampere also claims an 18-degree gradeability, making the Nexus EX+ better equipped to tackle steep roads and additional load.
The TVS iQube 3.1 kWh has a claimed top speed of 82 km/h, focussing more on smooth and practical everyday riding instead of outright performance.
Therefore, buyers looking for better acceleration and top speed will likely prefer the Nexus EX+.
Charging Time
The Ampere Nexus EX+ can charge from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 3.10 hours, as per Ampere’s specifications. It also features an IP65-rated 750W charger with additional protection against dust and water.
The TVS iQube 3.1 kWh will take around 3 hours 30 minutes to charge, as per TVS.
The charging times are therefore very similar, with the Nexus EX+ having a slight advantage on paper.
Features and Technology
The Nexus EX+ features a 6.2-inch PMVA instrument cluster, four riding modes and connected technology on the higher Intellipack version. The connected package features live tracking, geo-fencing, navigation, remote diagnostics, trip reports, battery health monitoring and charging status.
The TVS iQube also features a strong technology package with connected features, navigation, hill-hold functionality and Q-Park Assist depending on the variant. TVS says their iQube range offers more than 118 connected features across the portfolio.
