VinFast has increased prices of both its mainstream electric SUVs in India. The VF 6 is now Rs 90,000 more expensive across the range, while VF 7 prices have risen by as much as Rs 1.13 lakh. The big revision in prices comes less than a year after the Vietnamese manufacturer launched the two locally assembled EVs in India, signalling a clear shift from the aggressive introductory strategy that marked their debut.
The VF 6, VinFast’s more compact offering aimed at a wider buyer base, has absorbed a flat Rs 90,000 increase on every variant. This takes the Earth, Wind and Wind Infinity trims to a new ex-showroom range of Rs 18.19 lakh to Rs 20.09 lakh. It is the second such revision for the model. An earlier adjustment had already been made earlier in 2026 once the special launch pricing window closed, meaning owners and prospective buyers have watched the cost climb steadily within the first year of availability.
The larger VF 7 has been hit harder. Price rises of between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.13 lakh depending on specification have pushed its starting price to Rs 22.99 lakh, with the top dual-motor variants now reaching Rs 28.09 lakh. Offered across five trims that span single-motor front-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrains, the VF 7 carries a bigger battery option and stronger performance credentials, and the steeper hike reflects both its higher positioning and the greater cost of its more advanced hardware.
Both vehicles are assembled at VinFast’s plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, under a CKD arrangement that allows the company to localise production while managing import duties. The facility currently supports an annual capacity of 50,000 units with room for significant expansion, underlining the brand’s longer-term commitment to the Indian market even as short-term pricing adjusts.
The timing of the latest increase arrives amid rising input costs across the industry and a broader recalibration of electric vehicle margins after an initial phase of competitive launch pricing. While VinFast has not issued a detailed public explanation, such revisions are increasingly common as manufacturers move beyond the introductory period and seek healthier unit economics. For customers who had been evaluating either model, the new figures represent a meaningful change from the rates that first brought these Vietnamese EVs to Indian showrooms.
In a market where price sensitivity remains high and competition from established domestic and global players continues to intensify, the revised tags will test how strongly buyers value the feature sets, range figures and design language that VinFast has brought to the segment. The VF 6 and VF 7 still offer distinctive styling and competitive specifications, yet the higher entry points place greater pressure on the brand to demonstrate clear ownership advantages and long-term value. As deliveries continue and more real-world feedback accumulates, the success of these models will depend not only on product merit but also on how the market digests the elevated pricing that has now taken effect.
