The upcoming seven-seat electric SUV from JSW MG Motor India, widely expected to carry the Hector Tomahawk name, has been captured completely free of camouflage on Indian roads just days before its scheduled reveal. The sighting, which appears linked to a television commercial shoot in Pune, offers the clearest view yet of the production design and confirms the model’s readiness for its official debut on August 26, 2026.
This vehicle holds particular significance as the first model built on MG’s new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform. Designed as a modular architecture capable of supporting multiple electrified powertrains—including pure battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid and range-extender configurations—ADAPT is intended to form the foundation for MG’s future new-energy vehicles in India. The Hector Tomahawk will arrive first in fully electric form, with a plug-in hybrid variant expected to follow later.
Based closely on the Wuling Eksion (also known as the Starlight 560 in some markets), the Indian model is expected to measure around 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,755 mm in height, with a wheelbase of approximately 2,810 mm. These dimensions position it as a spacious three-row family SUV sitting above the existing Hector in MG’s lineup. Spy images reveal a tall, upright stance with a clean front fascia featuring a closed-off upper section typical of electric vehicles, a prominent MG badge, dual LED daytime running lights connected by black trim with silver accents, and rectangular headlamp units. The lower bumper incorporates a rectangular air intake and vertical air curtains, while subtle ridges run along the bonnet.
From the side, the SUV displays prominent black cladding around the wheel arches and lower body, dual-tone alloy wheels with a geometric pattern, roof rails and a rising window line that contributes to a muscular three-row silhouette. One of the undisguised examples was finished in an olive-green or light-green shade with a contrasting black roof, giving it a distinctive dual-tone appearance. The rear is expected to feature wraparound LED tail-lights, though full details remain limited in the latest sightings.Inside, teasers have already confirmed a seven-seat layout with a bench-style second row, a beige colour theme and a panoramic sunroof. The cabin is anticipated to adopt a relatively minimalist design with dual screens, drawing from its overseas counterparts.
Powertrain specifics for the India-spec model are still under wraps, but the overseas twin uses a front-mounted electric motor producing around 201 hp and 310 Nm paired with a 69.2 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery pack, claiming up to 530 km of range under the CLTC cycle. A top speed of about 160 kph is also referenced. Pre-reservations are already open for a token amount of Rs 21,000, signalling strong early interest.
The Hector Tomahawk name itself draws inspiration from the iconic Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk fighter aircraft of World War II, aligning with MG’s recent teaser campaign that emphasised progressive design and a sense of presence. Once revealed, the model is expected to compete in the growing three-row electric SUV segment against rivals such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV, with pricing anticipated in a competitive range above the current Hector. With the full exterior now visible in undisguised form and the official reveal just over a week away, attention is turning to how the final production version will be received. How are we rating the design?
