Hyundai has added another important chapter to its global strategy regarding electric mobility. The company has showcased the Hyundai Neira Electric MPV at the 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). Currently presented in prototype form, the overall design and body detailing suggest that the production version will remain very close to this show car. Hyundai aims to launch it in the market by the end of 2026.

Officially described as a seven-seat electric SUV for Indonesian families, the Neira Prototype leans more toward an MPV bodystyle with its long roofline, expansive glass area, and practical three-row proportions. It adopts Hyundai’s latest EV design language, featuring:

The Neira bears a striking resemblance to the Kia Carens Clavis EV (already on sale in India), suggesting the two models will share the same platform, architecture, and key components. This sister-model strategy allows Hyundai to enter the three-row electric segment faster and more cost-effectively. Expected dimensions are approximately 4,550 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and a wheelbase around 2,780 mm, promising spacious three-row seating suitable for families.
Powertrain and Expected Performance
Hyundai has not yet released full technical specifications for the prototype. However, if it shares the platform with the Kia Carens Clavis EV, expect:
- Battery options of around 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh
- Power outputs ranging from ~135 hp to 171 hp with up to 255 Nm of torque
- Claimed range of 404–490 km on a single charge
- Support for fast charging
These specs would make it a capable family hauler with competitive efficiency for daily use and longer trips.

The Neira strengthens Hyundai’s EV portfolio in Southeast Asia, with plans for local production in Indonesia at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI). This move demonstrates the company’s commitment to accessible electric mobility tailored to family needs.Beyond Indonesia, the Neira hints at Hyundai’s potential entry into India’s growing three-row MPV and EV segments. It could arrive as an accessible electric family vehicle, possibly priced competitively (potentially sub-₹20 lakh if launched in India), filling a gap in Hyundai’s Indian lineup where it currently lacks a dedicated MPV.
