Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to strengthen its presence in the MPV segment with two all-new models — one fully electric and one strong hybrid. This move comes as the company aims to expand its utility vehicle (UV) portfolio significantly over the next 3–4 years amid rising demand for family-oriented and eco-friendly vehicles.
The Maruti Electric MPV is expected to launch by the end of 2026. This will be one of Maruti’s first mass-market electric MPVs in India, targeted at family buyers looking for spacious interiors, practical features, and zero-emission mobility. It is likely to be built on Maruti’s new electric vehicle platform and will offer competitive range, fast charging, and family-friendly seating for 6–7 passengers.
Maruti is also planning a strong hybrid MPV, which is expected to arrive around the same period or shortly after the electric variant. Reports suggest this hybrid MPV could be based on the Japan-spec Suzuki Solio, a popular compact MPV known for its boxy, spacious design and efficient hybrid powertrain. The Indian version is expected to feature Maruti’s proven strong hybrid technology (similar to the Grand Vitara and Fronx Hybrid), delivering excellent fuel efficiency and smooth driving experience.
Maruti Suzuki is adopting a multi-powertrain approach for its upcoming UVs and MPVs.
