The Haryana Government has called upon auto component manufacturers to aggressively localize the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain to strengthen India’s self-reliance and prepare for the expected surge in domestic EV adoption. Senior government representatives, speaking at an ASSOCHAM conclave held here, emphasized the need for component makers to enhance manufacturing quality and scale operations well ahead of the projected shift in market volumes toward electric vehicles.

Haryana, a major auto hub in India with a strong base of component suppliers and OEMs, is positioning itself as a key player in the country’s EV transition. Officials highlighted that localizing the EV ecosystem — from batteries and motors to electronics and charging infrastructure components — is critical not only for reducing dependence on imports but also for creating jobs and attracting fresh investments.

“Component manufacturers must raise their quality standards and invest in new technologies today so they are ready when the market volumes shift decisively towards EVs,” a senior Haryana government official said at the ASSOCHAM event.

The government stressed the importance of building robust domestic capabilities in high-value areas such as battery management systems, power electronics, drivetrains, and lightweight materials. Representatives pointed out that timely localization will help Indian suppliers become part of global EV value chains and improve cost competitiveness.

Haryana’s auto industry already contributes significantly to the national supply chain. The state government is actively promoting EV manufacturing through policy incentives, infrastructure development, and skill development programs. Officials at the conclave invited industry players to collaborate on setting up EV-specific clusters and R&D facilities within the state.

Industry participants at the ASSOCHAM conclave welcomed the government’s proactive approach but also called for faster implementation of support schemes, easier access to financing for technology upgrades, and clearer long-term EV policy visibility.

With India aiming for substantial EV penetration in the coming years, states like Haryana are racing to build an end-to-end ecosystem. Localizing the supply chain is seen as a vital step to achieve cost reduction, supply security, and export potential.

The Haryana government’s latest push is expected to encourage more component manufacturers to accelerate their transition plans and align with the national goal of becoming a global EV manufacturing powerhouse.
