Just days before its official unveiling on July 23, the much-awaited Kia Syros EV has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads. This latest sighting is particularly interesting as the SUV was captured while plugged into a public DC fast charger, giving us a clear look at its charging port location.
Unlike the Hyundai Creta Electric and Kia’s own Carens Clavis EV, the Syros EV’s charging port is positioned on the front left quarter panel. This design choice is different from the more common rear-right or rear-left positioning seen on many electric vehicles in India. While it may offer some design and packaging advantages, it will require drivers to be more mindful while parking at charging stations — potentially needing to plan their approach and parking direction in advance for convenient access.
The latest test mule sighting shows the Syros EV still under heavy camouflage, but it confirms that Kia is actively fine-tuning the vehicle’s charging performance and real-world usability. The fact that it was seen using a public DC fast charger suggests Kia is focusing on making the Syros EV practical for everyday users who rely on public charging infrastructure.
Expected Highlights of Kia Syros EV
- Segment-leading claimed range (up to 526 km)
- Level 2 ADAS suite
- Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option for lower upfront cost
- Fast charging capability
- Premium features and spacious cabin
The Syros EV is expected to play a key role in Kia’s electric offensive in India, sitting in the popular mid-size electric SUV segment alongside rivals like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, and MG Windsor EV.With its official debut just a week away, expectations are high for strong specifications, competitive pricing, and Kia’s signature design and feature package.
