Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler maker Ultraviolette Automotive has kicked off 2026 with its best sales performance yet, registering 1,534 electric motorcycles between January 1 and May 12, according to Vahan data. This marks a significant acceleration for the performance-oriented EV brand, which has historically operated in a premium niche.
The company achieved its best-ever quarterly sales in Q1 CY2026 (January–March), retailing 975 units — a sharp jump from just 206 units in the same period last year. Monthly sales showed steady momentum:
- January: 403 units
- February: 283 units
- March: 289 units
- April: 379 units
- May (first 12 days): 180 units
This strong run reflects growing demand for Ultraviolette’s high-performance electric motorcycles, particularly the F77 and the more accessible X-47 crossover.
Since commencing retail deliveries in February 2023, Ultraviolette has sold a total of 3,799 units. Notably, over 3,000 units (approximately 81%) were sold in the last 16 months, highlighting a clear upward trajectory. Sales have grown progressively:
- CY2023: 271 units
- CY2024: 443 units
- CY2025: 1,551 units
The company is now firmly on track for a record calendar year in 2026.
A key driver behind the recent surge is the introduction of the UV Battery Flex — Ultraviolette’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plan, launched in partnership with Ecofy. This innovative ownership model significantly lowers the upfront cost for buyers by separating the battery from the vehicle chassis.
Under the BaaS plan:
- The X-47 now starts at just ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom) — a reduction of approximately ₹1.01 lakh.
- Battery subscription starts at around ₹2,499 per month (or ~₹2.5 per km).
- Similar benefits are available for the F77 lineup.
This move makes Ultraviolette’s products more competitive with conventional ICE motorcycles while addressing one of the biggest barriers in the premium EV segment — high initial purchase price.
Ultraviolette’s focus on performance electric motorcycles, combined with accessible financing options like BaaS and an expanding dealer network, appears to be paying off. The company is also gearing up for new launches, including the much-awaited Tesseract electric scooter, expected to further broaden its appeal and boost volumes in the coming quarters.
With India’s EV two-wheeler market continuing to mature and performance-oriented buyers showing increasing interest, Ultraviolette is well-positioned to build on this momentum throughout 2026 and beyond.
