The Wuling Starlight 560 has once again been spotted testing on Indian roads, this time near MG Motor India’s Halol plant in Gujarat. The latest spy shots, including an electric variant with a closed-off front grille, strongly suggest that the launch of this full-size SUV under the MG brand is nearing. The vehicle was seen wearing temporary Gujarat (GJ 17) registration plates, indicating active local testing and evaluation. This marks multiple sightings in recent months, reinforcing expectations of an imminent introduction.
Internationally, the Wuling Starlight 560 (also known as Xingguang 560) is offered with a range of powertrains:
- Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV): 1.5-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor and 20.5 kWh battery. It delivers a combined system output of around 194–197 hp and offers up to 125 km of pure electric range (CLTC) with a total range exceeding 1,100 km.
- All-Electric (EV): Equipped with a 56.7 kWh battery pack, delivering a claimed range of up to 500–540 km (CLTC).
- Turbo-petrol variants are also available in select markets.
For India, JSW MG Motor India is expected to prioritise the PHEV version initially, with the EV variant likely to follow, positioning it as one of the first mass-market plug-in hybrid SUVs in the country.
The Starlight 560 measures 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,755–1,770 mm in height, with a generous 2,810 mm wheelbase. These dimensions make it nearly identical in size to the MG Hector Plus, suggesting it could replace or sit above it in the lineup as a more modern, electrified 5- or 7-seater option.
It will compete in the premium three-row SUV segment against models like the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and the upcoming XUV 7XO.
Spy images and patent details reveal a bold design with a large rectangular grille, LED headlights, dual-tone 18-inch alloys, front and rear skid plates, and a premium stance. The interior is expected to feature a large 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, and comfortable captain seats in higher variants.
The Starlight 560 is part of MG’s aggressive product offensive in India. The company has already filed design patents for the model, and it is likely to be manufactured at the Halol facility in Gujarat. Industry sources point to a possible launch around October 2026 (festive season).
This launch will give MG a strong foothold in the growing PHEV and EV segments, offering Indian buyers efficient, spacious, and feature-rich electrified mobility options.
