First new model after controversial EV-only rebrand heads to production on dedicated JEA platformJaguar is set to unveil the official name of its highly anticipated electric grand tourer, currently codenamed Type 00, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. This marks a significant milestone as it will be the first production offering from the British luxury brand following its bold — and often polarizing — shift to an all-electric future announced in late 2024
The reveal comes after the dramatic Type 00 Concept unveiled in December 2024, which previewed Jaguar’s new “Exuberant Modernism” design language with its striking proportions, long bonnet, fastback silhouette, and minimalist yet dramatic styling.
The production four-door grand tourer will be based on Jaguar’s dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) platform, developed from the ground up for its next-generation EVs.
Key highlights expected include:
- 800V architecture supporting ultra-rapid charging (up to 350kW) — capable of adding around 200 miles (321 km) of range in as little as 15 minutes.
- Target range of up to 770 km (WLTP) / 430 miles (EPA) on a full charge.
- High-performance powertrain options, with rumours and prototypes pointing to over 1,000 hp and massive torque delivery for effortless grand touring performance.
The car is designed as a true electric grand tourer — prioritising long-distance comfort, engaging dynamics, and exceptional ride quality while embracing Jaguar’s heritage of elegant performance.
In late 2024, Jaguar executed a complete brand reset, adopting a new logo, identity, and “Copy Nothing” philosophy as it phases out internal combustion engines to focus exclusively on high-end electric vehicles. The move was controversial but generated massive global attention. The Type 00 production model represents the first tangible result of this transformation.
Production is expected to be based in the UK, with the full production reveal likely later in 2026 and customer deliveries starting in 2027.
