Audi has taken a bold step in the world’s largest EV market. At Auto China 2026 in Beijing, the company fully revealed the Audi E7X, its first all-electric SUV under the new AUDI sub-brand (developed in partnership with SAIC Motor). This China-exclusive model will launch in the second quarter of 2026 (Q2 2026) and promises class-leading range, ultra-fast charging, powerful performance, and a highly luxurious, tech-loaded cabin tailored for Chinese buyers.
The E7X is built on a high-performance 900-volt Advanced Digitized Platform. It offers two battery options sourced from CATL:
- 100 kWh battery
- 109 kWh (109.3 kWh gross) battery
With the larger 109 kWh pack, the E7X delivers an impressive up to 751 km of range on the lenient CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) standard. Real-world range is expected to be lower, but it still positions the E7X among the longest-range electric SUVs in its segment. The 900V architecture enables ultra-fast 4C charging. Audi claims the battery can go from 10% to 80% in just 13 minutes — perfect for long-distance travel with minimal stops.
Buyers can choose between two powertrain setups:
- Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD): 300 kW (approximately 402 hp) with 500 Nm of torque.
- All-Wheel Drive (quattro): 500 kW (approximately 671–680 hp) with a massive 800 Nm of torque.
The top AWD variant sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of around 230 km/h. Intelligent power distribution ensures excellent traction in all conditions.
The E7X is a large SUV measuring over 5,049 mm in length with a 3,060 mm wheelbase, offering generous interior space. It comes in two seating configurations to suit different needs:
- 5-seater — Ideal for active families.
- 4-seater executive layout — Featuring two independent “zero-gravity” rear seats that can recline up to 130 degrees (or at least 120–130 degrees depending on the source). These seats offer 16-point massage functions, pneumatic adjustments with multiple airbags, and ultimate comfort for long journeys or business travel.
The cabin emphasizes luxury and technology with premium materials, a calm and futuristic design, and excellent refinement.
The E7X boasts an impressive digital experience:
- A massive 27-inch panoramic display integrated into the dashboard for the driver and front passenger.
- A large 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen (deployable) for passengers to enjoy movies, content, or work.
- Premium Bose Performance Series audio system with up to 26 speakers.
- AI-powered AUDI Assistant 2.0 for intelligent voice control and seamless integration with China’s digital ecosystem.
- Advanced lidar-based AUDI 360 Driving Assist, optimized for China’s complex traffic and road conditions.
The E7X is the second production model from the AUDI sub-brand (after the E5 Sportback) and the first SUV in the lineup. It is produced at the AUDI intelligent manufacturing base in Anting, Shanghai. A third model — an all-electric sedan — is expected in 2027.This vehicle directly targets the competitive Chinese premium EV segment, rivaling models like the Zeekr 8X, Denza N9, MG IM LS8, and other high-end electric SUVs. It combines Audi’s traditional strengths in dynamics and build quality with advanced Chinese EV technology, fast charging, and luxury features popular with local buyers.
Note: The E7X is China-exclusive for now and will not be available in global markets like India, Europe, or the US under the standard Audi brand.
With up to 751 km CLTC range, lightning-fast charging, up to 671 hp, and a cabin that blends zero-gravity luxury with giant screens, the Audi E7X looks set to make a strong impression in China. It showcases how Audi is aggressively adapting to the world’s most demanding EV market through its partnership with SAIC.
