Mercedes-Benz India’s upcoming all-electric CLA sedan is witnessing robust customer interest even before its official launch. Within just 20 days of opening the order books, the company has received over 400 bookings, following the announcement of an indicative price starting at around ₹55 lakh (with higher variants near the ₹60 lakh mark).
A significant highlight of this early response is that the majority of buyers are entering the luxury car segment for the first time. Many are upgrading from premium compact sedans and hatchbacks, viewing the CLA Electric as an accessible entry point into Mercedes-Benz ownership with modern electric performance and advanced features
Mercedes-Benz officially launched the CLA Electric in India on 24 April 2026, positioning it as the brand’s most affordable model in the country. The electric sedan is offered in three variants:
- CLA 200 Standard Range (Progressive Line) — ₹55 lakh
- CLA 250+ Long Range (AMG Line) — ₹59 lakh
- CLA 250+ Long Range Launch Edition — ₹64 lakh (limited numbers)
The model range features two battery options: a 58 kWh pack for the Standard Range variant (claimed WLTP range of up to 542 km) and a larger 85.5 kWh battery for the Long Range versions (offering an impressive claimed range of up to 792 km). Deliveries of the CLA 250+ Long Range are expected to commence by the end of April 2026, while the Standard Range variant will reach customers from June 2026
Bookings were opened on 10 March 2026 with a token amount of ₹1.5 lakh, and early customers also receive a complimentary Wallbox charger.
The strong booking numbers reflect the CLA Electric’s positioning as a stylish, tech-laden, and efficient electric sedan that bridges the gap between mainstream premium vehicles and full luxury offerings. With its sleek four-door coupe-like design, advanced MBUX infotainment system, and impressive efficiency, it is attracting a new generation of buyers who prioritize sustainability, performance, and brand prestige without venturing into higher price brackets.
Mercedes-Benz India aims to accelerate its electric vehicle adoption through this model, expecting it to play a key role in growing the brand’s EV portfolio in the coming years. The company has indicated plans to introduce multiple new electric models over the next 12–18 months.
