Mahindra is one of the leading SUV manufacturers in India, known for its rugged and capable vehicles like the Scorpio, Thar, and XUV700. Like most major automakers, the company has aggressively started moving toward electric vehicles to meet evolving customer demands, stricter emission norms, and growing competition in the EV space. Mahindra already has a couple of EVs in its lineup (including the XUV400 and the recently launched Born Electric models) and has ambitious plans to expand its electric portfolio significantly in the coming years.
1. Mahindra BE 6 (with 70 kWh Battery Option)
The Mahindra BE 6 is one of the first “Born Electric” models from Mahindra’s dedicated INGLO platform. It is a stylish, coupe-like electric SUV that has already been launched with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, offering claimed ranges of up to 557–683 km (MIDC).A new 70 kWh battery variant is expected to be introduced soon (likely in 2026). This mid-range option is expected to deliver around 600 km of claimed range, filling the gap between the existing packs. It will likely pair with a rear-wheel-drive setup producing approximately 241 hp, making it a balanced choice for buyers seeking good range without jumping to the top-spec model.
Expected Highlights:
- Modern coupe-SUV design
- Premium interior with large digital screens
- Fast charging (20–80% in ~20 minutes)
- Level 2 ADAS and strong safety features
The BE 6 currently starts from around ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory pricing).
2. Mahindra XEV 9E (with 70 kWh Battery Option)
The Mahindra XEV 9E is the more premium, flagship sibling to the BE 6 — also built on the INGLO platform. It features a bold design, spacious cabin, and high-end features. Like the BE 6, it was launched with 59 kWh and 79 kWh options (claimed range up to 656 km).Mahindra is reportedly working on introducing a 70 kWh battery variant for the XEV 9E as well. This version is expected to offer roughly 600 km range and will sit as a smart mid-option for buyers who want more performance and features than the base model but don’t need the largest battery.
Expected Highlights:
- Larger dimensions with excellent boot + frunk space
- Triple-screen dashboard setup
- Up to 282 hp in higher variants
- Panoramic sunroof, auto park, and advanced tech
Current pricing for the XEV 9E starts from around ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
3. Mahindra BE 07 (or B07)
The Mahindra BE 07 (internally codenamed B07) is the production version of the striking BE.07 concept shown earlier. This model was originally expected in late 2026 but has now been confirmed for a 2027 launch.
It will be positioned above the BE 6 in the lineup and is expected to have a more upright, premium SUV stance. Built on the same INGLO platform, it is likely to offer battery options between 60 kWh and 80 kWh, with competitive real-world range and both RWD and AWD configurations.Expected Highlights:
- Bold, modern design with flush door handles and aero wheels
- Spacious and tech-loaded cabin
- Strong performance suitable for highway and city use
- Targeted at the mid-to-premium electric SUV segment (rival to models like Tata Harrier.ev)
Expected price range: ₹25–30 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated).
4. Mahindra Vision S EV
The Mahindra Vision S is part of Mahindra’s ambitious “Global Vision 2027” showcased in 2025. It is a stylish, sub-4-metre SUV concept with a sporty and solid character — often described as a modern, boxy “baby Scorpio” vibe. While the Vision S will come with petrol and diesel options, an electric version (Vision S EV) is also expected as part of Mahindra’s broader electrification strategy. Production of Vision S derivatives is set to begin in 2027, with the EV variant likely following around the same time or shortly after.Expected Highlights:
- Compact size ideal for Indian cities
- Muscular yet premium design
- Likely to share powertrain components from Mahindra’s INGLO or other EV platforms
- Affordable positioning compared to larger BE/XEV models
Expected price (overall Vision S): ₹9–16 lakh (ex-showroom, estimated), with the EV variant possibly commanding a slight premium.
Mahindra’s EV Roadmap
Mahindra is rapidly building a comprehensive electric SUV portfolio using its advanced INGLO platform for the “Born Electric” models. With models spanning compact, mid-size, and larger segments, the company aims to cater to diverse customer needs — from daily commuters to premium buyers.
The addition of 70 kWh battery options in the BE 6 and XEV 9E will make these models even more attractive by offering better value and range flexibility. The upcoming BE 07 and Vision S EV will further expand Mahindra’s footprint in the fast-growing Indian EV market.
As charging infrastructure improves and competition heats up (from Tata, Hyundai, MG, and others), Mahindra’s focused approach on rugged yet refined electric SUVs positions it well for the future.
