Maruti Suzuki Delivers Over 100 e-VITARA EVs in a Single Day – A Promising Start to Its Electric Journey

In a significant boost to its electric vehicle ambitions, Maruti Suzuki achieved a notable milestone by handing over 108 units of its first-ever electric SUV, the e-VITARA, to eager customers in just one day in Hyderabad.

This impressive single-day delivery event, held at a grand customer handover ceremony, signals strong early demand and growing confidence in Maruti’s entry into the EV segment. Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), described the occasion as a clear reflection of customer trust in the country’s largest carmaker as it ramps up its shift toward sustainable mobility.

While Maruti Suzuki has traditionally dominated the internal combustion engine (ICE) market, the company is now aggressively accelerating its electric plans. The e-VITARA — built at the company’s advanced Hansalpur plant in Gujarat — is not only targeted at the domestic market but is also being exported to multiple countries, making it one of India’s highest-exported battery electric vehicles in recent times.

The 108-unit mass delivery in Hyderabad comes shortly after the e-VITARA’s launch and initial rollout, underlining that buyers are responding positively to Maruti’s first electric offering. This performance is being viewed as an encouraging sign that the brand’s massive dealer network and loyal customer base are ready to embrace EVs when backed by Maruti’s trusted service ecosystem.

Maruti Suzuki has set a clear long-term vision: it plans to introduce four new electric vehicles by 2031. The e-VITARA serves as the crucial first step in this strategy, with more models expected to follow in the coming years.

The company is aiming to establish a strong foothold in the battery electric vehicle (BEV) segment and has expressed its goal of becoming a leading player in India’s fast-growing EV market.

Positioned as a compact electric SUV, the e-VITARA is offered with flexible ownership options, including a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model that makes it more affordable upfront. It comes with competitive range figures, modern features, and Maruti’s renowned after-sales support — factors that appear to be resonating well with early buyers.

The mass delivery event in Hyderabad also highlights how regional markets are showing enthusiasm for premium electric SUVs from established Indian brands.

For the broader Indian EV industry, Maruti Suzuki’s strong debut with the e-VITARA is noteworthy. As the country’s biggest passenger vehicle manufacturer by volume, even modest success from Maruti can significantly expand EV adoption.

With this single-day delivery milestone, Maruti has sent a clear message: its electric journey has begun on a solid note. As more customers experience the e-VITARA on Indian roads and the company expands its EV portfolio, the coming months could prove decisive in shaping Maruti’s position in the electric era.
