Tata Safari EV Set for Festive Season 2026 Launch: India’s First Three-Row Electric SUV Incoming

Tata Motors is gearing up to expand its electric SUV portfolio with the launch of the Tata Safari EV during the festive season of 2026 (likely around September–October, before Diwali). This will mark a significant milestone as Tata’s first three-row all-electric offering and its new flagship electric vehicle, taking over from the recently launched Harrier EV.The Safari EV is expected to fill the gap for large families looking for a spacious, premium electric SUV with genuine seven-seat capability and long-range potential.

The Safari EV will share its underpinnings and powertrain options with the Tata Harrier EV. It is likely to be offered with the same battery pack choices — 65 kWh and 75 kWh LFP batteries — paired with single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD (Quad Wheel Drive) configurations.Performance figures are expected to be very close to the Harrier EV, which offers:

  • Up to 390 PS combined power (in AWD form)
  • 504 Nm of torque
  • 0–100 km/h in around 6.3 seconds (Boost mode)
  • Claimed range of up to 627 km (ARAI) on the 75 kWh pack

Due to the Safari’s larger size and three-row layout, real-world range may be slightly lower than the Harrier EV, but it should still comfortably exceed 500 km in ideal conditions.

Externally, the Safari EV is expected to feature only minor visual changes compared to the ICE Safari — including a closed-off front grille, revised bumpers, EV-specific badging, and aerodynamic alloy wheels for better efficiency. The big upgrade comes inside and under the skin with Tata’s new TiDAL (Tata Intelligent Digital Architecture Layer) electronic and electrical architecture. This advanced system, first introduced on the Harrier EV, will enable a host of modern features such as:

  • Over-the-Air (OTA) updates
  • 540-degree surround view camera (including underbody view)
  • Improved Level 2 ADAS suite
  • Auto park assist
  • Summon mode
  • Low-speed off-road cruise control
  • UPI-based in-car payments (DrivePay)
  • Better-connected infotainment and enhanced cabin experience

The spacious three-row cabin is expected to retain the commanding road presence and premium feel that Safari buyers love, while offering zero tailpipe emissions and near-silent operation.

Production of the Safari EV is slated to commence in August 2026 at Tata’s facilities, allowing enough time for a smooth festive season rollout.

Once launched, the Safari EV will directly rival the upcoming Mahindra XEV 9S (a three-row electric SUV) and position itself above the Harrier EV in Tata’s electric lineup. Expected pricing is likely to fall in the ₹22.5 – 30 lakh (ex-showroom) range, making it a strong contender in the premium electric three-row segment.

With the addition of the Safari EV, Tata Motors will complete its current electric SUV portfolio, offering buyers a full range from compact (Nexon/Punch EV) to mid-size (Curvv/Harrier EV) and now flagship three-row options.

The Safari EV is a smart move by Tata. It leverages proven Harrier EV components for faster development and better reliability while addressing the growing demand for family-friendly electric SUVs in India. The combination of strong performance, advanced TiDAL features, and Tata’s reputation for safety (5-star Bharat NCAP expected) could make it a compelling choice for buyers ready to go electric but unwilling to compromise on space or presence.

We can’t wait to see the final specifications, real-world range tests, and pricing details closer to launch. This could be one of the most important EV launches of 2026 for Indian families.
