Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited (MLMML) has maintained its position as the leading electric commercial vehicle manufacturer in India for the fourth consecutive financial year, according to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The company, a subsidiary of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., reported the milestone at the close of FY2025–26
MLMML has once again solidified its dominance in India’s fast-growing electric commercial vehicle (EV) segment. For FY25 (the period ending March 31, 2025), the company retained the top spot as the No. 1 electric commercial vehicle manufacturer for the fourth year in a row. This achievement is backed by strong performance in the L5 electric three-wheeler category, where MLMML commanded an impressive 37.3% market share.
The leadership comes amid rising electrification in the last-mile mobility space. EV penetration in the L5 segment reached 24.2% in FY25, a significant jump from 16.9% in the previous year. MLMML’s flagship products — the Treo range, Zor Grand, and e-Alfa — played a pivotal role in driving this shift, offering reliable, zero-emission solutions for cargo and passenger transport
A standout highlight for the company was crossing major sales milestones. MLMML became the first commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to surpass 2 lakh cumulative electric vehicle sales. Within this, the Treo alone achieved over 1 lakh units sold, cementing its status as India’s best-selling electric auto. The company also introduced new models during FY25, including the Treo with a metal body and the Mahindra ZEO — its first electric small commercial vehicle (SCV) in the four-wheeler segment — to broaden its portfolio and accelerate four-wheeler cargo electrification.
Note on the user’s mention of surpassing 1 lakh EV sales in a single financial year: While MLMML did achieve rapid growth (with later reports indicating the most recent 1 lakh units sold in approximately 12 months), official FY25 announcements highlighted cumulative milestones rather than a single-year 1 lakh figure. Sales momentum has clearly accelerated, with monthly volumes frequently exceeding 10,000–12,000 units in subsequent periods, reflecting strong customer adoption.
Key Drivers Behind MLMML’s Success
- Product Portfolio: India’s widest range of electric three- and four-wheelers for last-mile needs, complemented by ICE options like Alfa and Jeeto for flexibility.
- Customer-Centric Initiatives: Programs such as UDAY NXT focus on enhancing ownership experience, resale value, and support for fleet operators.
- Market Expansion: Strong dealer network, focus on L5M sub-segments, and consistent year-on-year growth (often 40–80% in key periods) despite competition from legacy players and new entrants.
- Sustainability Impact: MLMML vehicles have collectively covered billions of kilometers, contributing meaningfully to reducing emissions in urban logistics and passenger mobility.
As India pushes toward sustainable transportation goals, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility’s consistent leadership underscores the growing viability of electric solutions in the commercial space. The company continues to invest in innovation, charging infrastructure support, and expanding into adjacent segments to maintain its edge.
With accelerating EV adoption and policy support, MLMML is well-positioned to build on its four-year streak and drive the next phase of electrification in India’s last-mile economy.
