Jaguar’s Upcoming Four-Door Electric GT: Production Version of the Type 00 Concept Heads to a September 2026 Global Debut

Jaguar is set to unveil the production version of its bold 2024 Type 00 concept — a luxurious four-door electric grand tourer (GT) — in September 2026. This model marks a pivotal moment for the British luxury brand as it transitions fully to an all-electric lineup.

The vehicle, often referred to internally as the 4-Door GT or X900, will serve as Jaguar’s first new model in its reimagined, upscale all-EV era. It aims to position the brand higher in the luxury segment, competing with offerings from Bentley rather than traditional mass-premium rivals. Jaguar Managing Director Rawdon Glover has described it as a “very sporty vehicle” and “the most powerful Jaguar ever,” with an expected starting price around $130,000 (approximately ₹1.1 crore or more in India, depending on taxes and specifications).

Jaguar had originally planned a global debut for the production four-door GT toward the end of 2025, with customer deliveries potentially starting in early 2026. However, the timeline shifted to 2026 following a major cyberattack on parent company Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in 2025. The incident disrupted operations, including production at key facilities, and contributed to significant financial losses. Reports indicate the cyberattack forced a halt in activities at the Solihull plant, directly affecting development and rollout plans for the new EV.

Despite the delay, Jaguar remains committed to the project. Orders are expected to open in key markets like the UK and North America shortly after the September reveal, with initial deliveries targeted for early 2027. Production is scheduled to ramp up thereafter.

The upcoming Jaguar electric GT will be manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant in the West Midlands, UK. This facility, a center of excellence for aluminium body technology, has historically produced models like the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. It recently completed production of Jaguar’s last internal combustion engine vehicle (the F-Pace), clearing the way for the brand’s full shift to electric models. The Solihull plant is also slated to build other upcoming Jaguar EVs, including a future electric Range Rover

Jaguar plans a phased global rollout for the four-door GT. Priority markets such as the UK and US will receive the vehicle first, with India falling into the second phase.During the 2024 preview of the Type 00 concept, Jaguar MD Rawdon Glover indicated that the 4-door model could launch in India in late 2026 into early 2027. However, with the global debut now pushed to September 2026 and production ramp-up following in early 2027, the Indian launch may slip to sometime in 2027 or even 2028, depending on how quickly Jaguar scales output and navigates local regulatory and market factors.

This luxury EV is expected to feature dramatic styling inspired by the Type 00 concept, advanced electric powertrain options (with reports suggesting high performance and competitive range), and premium grand touring capabilities. Exact specifications, including battery size, range, power output, and pricing for India, are yet to be officially confirmed. The four-door GT represents Jaguar’s ambitious bet on electrification and bold design as it reinvents itself under Tata Motors ownership. As development continues — including extensive winter testing in extreme conditions like those in Arjeplog, Sweden — enthusiasts and luxury EV buyers await its official unveiling later this year.
