Tata Motors has introduced a significant update to its flagship electric SUV, the Harrier EV, with the launch of the new Fearless+ QWD variant. This addition makes the all-wheel-drive (Quad Wheel Drive or QWD) configuration more accessible, priced at Rs 26.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Harrier EV QWD in the new Fearless+ trim comes equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive claimed range of up to 622 km on a single charge (ARAI-certified). This positions it as a strong contender in the premium electric SUV segment, combining long-distance capability with enhanced traction and performance.
Tata Motors’ strategic move brings the dual-motor QWD setup — previously exclusive to the top-spec Empowered QWD 75 variant at Rs 28.99 lakh — down by Rs 2.50 lakh. This price reduction broadens appeal for buyers prioritizing all-wheel drive without stretching to the flagship trim.
The Fearless+ QWD 75 is powered by a dual-motor configuration:
- Combined output of approximately 313 bhp (with front and rear motors contributing).
- Peak torque of 504 Nm.
- Acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds.
Additional performance features include Boost Mode for extra power bursts, six terrain modes, and Off-Road Assist, making it versatile for varied conditions, from city streets to light off-road adventures.
The 75 kWh battery supports fast charging, adding up to 250 km of range in just 15 minutes with a 120 kW DC charger. Real-world estimates (C75 conditions) suggest 480-505 km, while independent tests have shown around 400-438 km depending on driving style, load, and conditions.
Updated Variant Lineup and PricingThe Harrier EV now offers greater choice in drivetrains and trims:
- Adventure variants (65 kWh, RWD): Starting from Rs 21.49 lakh.
- Fearless+ 65 (RWD): Rs 23.99 lakh.
- Fearless+ 75 (RWD): Rs 24.99 lakh.
- Fearless+ QWD 75 (new AWD): Rs 26.49 lakh.
- Empowered variants (including QWD 75): Up to Rs 28.99 lakh.
This structure caters to diverse needs — from budget-conscious buyers to those seeking maximum features and performance.
The introduction of the Fearless+ QWD variant enhances the Harrier EV’s value proposition against rivals like the Mahindra XEV 9e and Hyundai Creta EV. By lowering the entry barrier for QWD, Tata addresses demand for superior grip, stability, and dynamic handling in an electric SUV, especially in challenging weather or terrains common in India.
The Harrier EV continues to stand out with its bold design, premium interior, advanced tech (including large infotainment screens and ADAS in higher trims), and Tata’s lifetime battery warranty on certain packs.
With this launch, the Harrier EV becomes even more approachable for enthusiasts seeking a powerful, feature-packed electric SUV without compromising on range or all-wheel-drive capability. Interested buyers can check the official Tata.ev website or dealerships for bookings and offers.
