VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, is accelerating its presence in India, viewing the country as a crucial pillar in its worldwide growth strategy. Having entered the Indian market in September 2025 with the locally assembled VF6 and VF7 electric SUVs, the company has quickly gained traction. These models, produced at VinFast’s facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, have helped the brand surpass 1,000 unit sales in just four months. In December 2025, VinFast ranked among the top four electric passenger vehicle sellers in India, outperforming established names like Hyundai, Kia, and BYD.
This strong early performance has set the stage for an ambitious expansion in 2026. VinFast India CEO Tapan Ghosh recently highlighted the company’s plans to introduce three new electric models tailored to Indian consumer needs. These vehicles prioritize real-world usage patterns, premium features, safety, reliability, and strong value for price-sensitive buyers, rather than focusing solely on on-paper specifications.
The first model slated for launch is the Limo Green, a seven-seater electric MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) expected in February 2026. Designed as a practical three-row option (2+3+2 seating), it targets both urban families seeking spacious, comfortable transport and fleet operators in the growing shared-mobility sector. The Limo Green draws from VinFast’s signature design language, featuring V-shaped LED lighting elements, a clean and minimalist exterior, and a slab-sided profile with a raised rear roof for enhanced headroom and practicality.
In its Vietnam-spec form (likely similar for India), the Limo Green measures approximately 4,740 mm in length, 1,872 mm in width, and 1,728 mm in height, with a 2,840 mm wheelbase—making it larger than competitors like the BYD eMax 7 in some dimensions. It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor delivering around 201 hp and 280 Nm of torque, paired with a 60.13 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of up to 450 km (NEDC cycle). Charging support includes 11 kW AC and 80 kW DC fast charging, with a 10-70% boost possible in about 30 minutes. Pricing is anticipated in the Rs 20-26 lakh range (ex-showroom), positioning it against rivals such as the Kia Carens Clavis EV and BYD eMax 7.
Following the Limo Green, VinFast plans to introduce additional models, including the compact VF3 micro EV—aimed at urban commuters and competing with options like the MG Comet—and potentially the VF5, a sub-4-meter compact offering. These additions will broaden the brand’s portfolio to cover diverse segments, from affordable city cars to family-oriented MPVs.To support this product offensive, VinFast is significantly expanding its retail network. From around 35 showrooms by the end of 2025, the company aims to double this to approximately 70-75 outlets in 2026, penetrating deeper into Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities while strengthening presence in major metros and Tier 1/2 markets.
Beyond passenger vehicles, VinFast is building an integrated EV ecosystem in India. Its sister company, Green and Smart Mobility (GSM), is set to launch an all-electric ride-hailing service in February 2026, utilizing VinFast vehicles—including the Limo Green—to boost visibility, usage, and consumer confidence in EVs. The company is also exploring charging infrastructure enhancements and future entries into electric buses, two-wheelers, and related mobility solutions.
VinFast’s strategy reflects a long-term commitment to India, emphasizing localization, practical innovation, and ecosystem development to drive sustainable EV adoption. With momentum from its initial models and an aggressive 2026 roadmap, the brand is positioning itself as a serious contender in one of the world’s fastest-growing electric vehicle markets.
