River Mobility Breaks into India’s Electric Two-Wheeler Elite with Record November Sales

Even as legacy two-wheeler giants like TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric Mobility continue to dominate India’s fast-growing electric two-wheeler (e-2W) segment, a handful of new-age start-ups have begun carving out a consistent presence in the monthly Top 10 retail sales charts. Among them, Bengaluru-based River Mobility stands out for its rapid ascent with a single product – the rugged, utility-focused River Indie electric scooter.

In November 2025, River achieved its highest-ever monthly retail sales figure of 1,801 units, according to Vahan dashboard data. This milestone comes just over two years after the Indie was launched in early 2023 and marks the seventh time in the past eleven months (April, June, July, August, September, October and November 2025) that the start-up has secured a place in the national Top 10 e-2W rankings.

The November performance also pushed River’s cumulative retail sales past the 15,000-unit mark. From its first retail registrations in October 2023 till the end of November 2025, the company has sold 16,041 River Indies. More impressively, 13,434 units were registered in the first eleven months of 2025 alone, putting River on course to comfortably cross 15,000+ units for the calendar year – a first for the young brand.

What makes River’s growth noteworthy is that it has achieved these numbers with just one model positioned in the premium-utility segment rather than the mass-market, high-volume play adopted by larger rivals. The Indie’s distinctive boxy design, 120+ km claimed range, generous 55-litre under-seat storage and rugged build have found strong resonance among urban professionals and small-business users who need a practical, “SUV-of-scooters” rather than a minimalist commuter.

While established players continue to benefit from vast dealer networks, aggressive pricing and multiple model options, River’s consistent Top 10 appearances signal that focused product strategy, strong word-of-mouth and a growing charging ecosystem can propel a start-up into the big league surprisingly quickly.

With production ramp-up underway and waiting periods still reported in several cities, River Mobility looks well positioned to end 2025 as one of the top five electric two-wheeler start-ups in India by volume – proof that in the country’s electric mobility race, there is clearly room for nimble challengers alongside the legacy heavyweights.
