Ather Energy reported a significant turnaround in the second quarter of FY27 as it turned profitable on the back of robust revenue growth, rising electric scooter sales and a favourable product mix. The Bengaluru-based electric two wheeler maker reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 1.26 crore for the quarter ended September 2026 against a net loss of Rs 154.07 crore in the same period last year.

This is a significant milestone as Ather Energy is growing its presence in India’s competitive electric two wheeler segment. The latest results show a healthy rise in demand for the electric scooters.

Ather Energy’s revenues saw a 62.9 per cent sequential growth in Q2 in FY27 to Rs 1,464.24 crore from Rs 898.88 crore in the same period last year. Income grew 62.3 per cent to Rs 1,526.95 crore from Rs 940.67 crore, including other income.

The company was able to increase its revenues at a faster pace than its costs. While total expenses were up 39.4 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,525.69 crore in the September quarter, this was lower than the 63 per cent rise in revenues. This helped improve the bottom line.

Electric scooter sales grew 42 per cent year-on-year to 93,211 units in Q2 FY27. This shows demand is continuing to grow for the company’s products.

Ather Energy also saw an improvement in its EBITDA margins to 4.9 per cent. This shows the company benefitted from increasing volumes and a favourable product mix. Going forward, the manufacturer will need to continue this momentum while investing in new products, distribution and charging infrastructure.

Ather Energy faces stiff competition in this segment from traditional electric two wheeler makers and established automobile companies who are entering the electric space. Companies within the sector are looking to invest in improving their product offering, expanding retail outlets, investment in batteries and customer service. Therefore, going forward, Ather Energy will need to see continued sales growth and cost control to ensure profitability.

In Q2 FY27 the company has seen a significant improvement from a year ago. Revenues rose almost 63 per cent, scooter volumes rose 42 per cent and the company returned to making a small net profit. Going forward, they will need to continue this growth to ensure profitable growth as competition within India’s electric two wheeler market increases.
