Tesla has officially opened up reservations for its much-anticipated next-generation Roadster in India. Indian Roadster fans can now reserve their dream car which will be one of the most extreme electric sports cars. The Performance configuration only requires a small deposit of ₹50.06 lakh while the ultra-exclusive Thrust setup requires a significantly larger sum of about ₹2.50 crore. However, even though Tesla has opened up reservations, there is still confusion about when the car will arrive in India.
The payment structure for Indian customers is clear. For the Performance configuration, customers are required to pay an initial sum of ₹5.01 lakh while the remaining amount of the reservation should be paid within ten days. The same initial deposit of ₹5.01 lakh is required for the Thrust configuration, but customers are then required to pay an additional ₹2.45 crore within ten days to complete their reservation.
The significant deposits required by Tesla show how much the company wants to secure the interest of high-net-worth individuals in the country. The extreme performance figures of the Thrust configuration also demonstrate that Tesla wants to capture some of the most influential car buyers in the country. The company has stated that the Thrust configuration can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 0.81 seconds. This is an incredible performance figure for any production automobile, making the new Roadster one of the fastest accelerating vehicles currently on the planet. Even though the Thrust configuration boasts impressive performance figures, it is the Performance configuration that is likely to capture the attention of the majority of car buyers in India. This is mainly because it has a significantly lower deposit requirement compared to the Thrust configuration.
Another thing that is still unclear about the Roadster is when it will arrive in India. Tesla has yet to give a timeline for the commencement of production of the right-hand-drive version of the next-generation Roadster. This means that Indian car buyers do not quite know how long they will have to wait before they can drive their new Tesla Roadster away.
