The festive season rarely goes by without a special surprise from MG, and this year it has delivered on its promise with the launch of the MG Windsor EV Indulge Edition. Limited to just 300 units and designed to exclusively mark the festive period, the special edition aims to elevate the current Windsor EV on to a luxury-lounge on wheels. Priced at an ex-showroom figure of ₹17,99,800 and offered only with the 38 kWh battery pack which promises a claimed range of around 336 km, the Indulge Edition poses an interesting question: does the MG Windsor EV delivers an ultimate luxury electric experience within this budget?
From the outside there are some subtle changes. The overall design, dimensions, full LED lighting setup, camera placements and the illuminated MG logo remain exactly the same as the standard model, and the ground clearance of 186 mm. The new changes are the new dual-tone golden exterior colour that complements the car beautifully and the black 18-inch alloy wheels, which adds a touch of sophistication. On the rear exclusive “Indulge” badging ensure this is a special edition, and beyond these changes the exterior follows on with the existing Windsor EV look.
Step inside and the transformation continues. The cabin now uses a rich almond brown colour theme that elevates the overall premium feel and adds a warmer touch to the already premium interior. Special cushions carrying the Indulge badge, a distinctive giraffe-print carpet in the rear and the existing privacy curtains combine to form a business-class inspired environment. The standout feature is the massive 15.6-inch rear entertainment screen offering passengers to watch movies in comfort, paired with the fixed panoramic glass roof and the nine-speaker audio system. The rear space already felt roomy but these features combine to create a private lounge, making road trips more indulgent.
Up front the changes are minimal. Drivers see the same large 15.6-inch touchscreen, cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring system, six airbags, 360-degree camera, wooden-finish console and nine-speaker setup. Indulge badging appears on the seats and headrests, maintaining the special-edition theme throughout the cabin, and the overall look follows on with a clean design philosophy. The floating console avoids any clutter, keeping the focus on comfort and usability.
Under the skin the mechanical package is the same as the standard 38 kWh Windsor EV. Power comes from an electric motor producing 136 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, with disc brakes at both ends. A full charge takes roughly four to five hours on a regular charger, while a DC fast charger can take the battery from 10 to 80 percent in about 55 minutes. These Indulge-specific changes are exclusive to the 38 kWh variant and will not be made available on the higher-capacity Pro models with the larger 52.9 kWh battery.
For buyers who already appreciate the Windsor EV’s spacious cabin, comfy ride and feature-rich package, the Indulge Edition adds a luxury touch and rear-seat luxury feel that is thoughtfully curated rather than overdone. With only 300 units available it is clearly aimed at those who are looking for something different in the festive season without jumping to a significantly higher price bracket. Does it offer the ultimate luxury EV experience? That is debatable, but the combination of a large rear screen, refined interior materials, limited availability and the same features found in the Windsor platform make a compelling case for anyone who desires comfort and a bit of occasional luxury in their electric car.
