Honda’s electric ambitions are steadily coming to fruition on Indian roads. A heavily camouflaged test mule of the upcoming Honda 0 Alpha EV crossover was recently captured on camera while undergoing real-world validation tests in Uttar Pradesh, providing an early glimpse of the brand’s next-gen electric vehicle plans for the market.

The test mule belonged to Honda’s forthcoming 0 Alpha EV crossover and a temporary test plate reading UP 16 C 0059 TC137, which originates from Gautam Buddha Nagar, covering Noida and Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh. That area is where Honda Cars India’s head office and primary manufacturing facility is located. The presence of the 0 Alpha EV test mule in this region hints at the proximity to its core operations in India.

Even under the heavy camouflage, several design elements of the 0 Alpha EV stood out. The test mule flaunted unique five-spoke aerodynamic aero-wheel covers. The vehicle’s overall shape had boxy crossover proportions with a high rear glass line, and slim LED lighting signatures gave it an air of a modern premium hatchback or crossover feel.

The 0 Alpha EV spy shots were captured on a semi-urban market road in Uttar Pradesh, with local stores like Ahmad Khan Trunk and Furniture House and Arfan Hybrid Beej Bhandar clearly visible in the background, hinting at the real-world conditions in which the vehicle was being tested. The spy shots provide an opportunity for Honda engineers to evaluate the performance, durability and practicality of the 0 Alpha EV in real-world conditions.

With development vehicles circulating near Honda’s R&D and manufacturing hub, the intrigue around the brand’s next-gen electric vehicle roster is mounting. Every new sighting of the 0 Alpha EV gets it one step closer to its eventual launch and Honda’s electric ambitions in India.
