Porsche has released additional detail on its new Cayenne Electric, with prices in India beginning at ₹1.77 crore (ex-showroom). The Cayenne Turbo Electric model peaks at ₹2.27 crore (ex-showroom) and marks a new era of performance for Porsche’s best-selling luxury SUV.
The new Porsche Cayenne Electric features a large 113 kW battery pack, which promises up to 642 km of range on a full charge. The Cayenne Electric has also been engineered to allow incredibly fast charging with the battery able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 16 minutes with appropriate high-power charging infrastructure.
The Cayenne Electric has a performance focus, with the Cayenne Turbo Electric variant posting a peak power of 1,141 bhp and 1,500 Nm. Porsche claims the Cayenne Turbo Electric can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds with a top speed of 260 kmph.
Both variants get twin-motor all-wheel drive as standard with the all-wheel drive system allowing Porsche to balance out performance and everyday practicality with the Cayenne Electric. The twin-motor all-wheel drive system also allows the Cayenne Electric to offer improved control in a variety of driving and weather conditions.
Porsche also plans to offer rear-axle steering as an option for the Cayenne Electric. The rear-axle steering can offer improved agility at low speeds while also improving stability at higher speeds. On a large luxury SUV like the Cayenne Electric, the rear-axle steering can also provide a sportier driving experience than expected.
