Porsche India has brought out the all-electric Cayenne, in two variants, the Cayenne Electric and the range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric. The new electric Cayenne SUV combines the functionality of a daily driver with the flair of a Porsche. Deliveries of the new Cayenne Electric variant began on September 30, with customers being able to drive away with the first-ever fully electric Porsche Cayenne on the day of its launch.
The electric Cayenne has a 113kWh battery that powers two electric motors at the front and rear axles. The standard Cayenne Electric produces around 408hp and offers a claimed range of up to 642 kilometres on a full charge. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 230 kmph. The range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric produces as much as 1,156hp and 1,150Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of 260 kmph. The all-electric Cayenne offers a claimed range of up to 623 kilometres.
Adaptive air suspension comes as standard on the Cayenne Electric, while rear-axle steering is optionally available. Regenerative braking can recuperate up to 600kW of power depending on driving conditions, reducing the need for the standard friction brakes. The Cayenne Electric also supports high-power DC charging to keep the large battery capacity topped up for longer journeys.
The launch of the all-electric Cayenne does not signal an end to petrol-powered Cayenne models. Porsche will continue to sell combustion-engined Cayenne variants in India and offer customers a choice between petrol and electric powertrains within the same model range.
The new electric Cayenne is positioned as a premium performance SUV and commands a premium price over its petrol counterparts. The standard Cayenne Electric starts at around Rs 1.76 crore, while the range-topping Cayenne Turbo Electric is priced at approximately Rs 2.25 crore. The all-electric Cayenne joins the ranks of Porsche’s electric vehicles in India and is set to compete in the luxury electric SUV segment against the backdrop of increasing demand for high-performance electric cars. Deliveries of the new Cayenne Electric have already begun in India, offering customers a choice between petrol and electric powertrains for their Cayenne SUV.
