Tata has launched the Tata Aeris CNG in India, introducing another CNG passenger vehicle into its portfolio. With the rising popularity of alternate-fuel vehicles, it has also prompted a question from electric-vehicle enthusiasts: will Tata Motors announce the launch of a fully electric version of the Aeris?
The upcoming Tata Aeris EV can be expected to position itself as a next-generation successor to the Tata Tigor EV, offering a more complete set of changes and upgrades across its design, technology and features. In place of a minor evolution of the current model, the Aeris EV is expected to get an entirely redesigned exterior and interior, bringing a more modern look to the vehicle.
On the exterior, the Tata Aeris EV can potentially feature a redesigned front and rear end with new details tailored to an electric vehicle. Inside the cabin, Tata Motors is also expected to change the design language of the dashboard into a more minimalist approach with an updated digital interface and additional connected features. The upcoming electric sedan can also potentially offer a dual-screen dashboard and a 360-degree camera system as standard equipment.
The Aeris EV is also expected to get an upgraded electric powertrain and battery technology. Reports and expectations about the model suggest that Tata Motors could potentially consider 19.2kWh and 24kWh battery pack options, although the exact final battery specifications, range figures and performance details have not yet been officially confirmed.
The possibility of an Aeris EV would also give Tata Motors another electric offering in the compact sedan segment. With the company expanding their EV portfolio with offerings such as the Tiago EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV and other larger electric SUVs, but a next-generation electric sedan could provide a new option for buyers seeking a practical, compact EV.
However, Tata Motors has yet to officially confirm the launch of the Tata Aeris EV or reveal its final specifications. Therefore, the model’s battery capacity, driving range, features, pricing and launch timeline should be considered expected details until the company makes an official announcement.
