The upcoming Tata Safari EV has been recently spotted undergoing tests on the roads once again, with a glimpse of what the company’s future three-row electric SUV could look like in the near future. Although the latest trial model was still largely cloaked in camouflage, its multiple appearances confirm that the development of the electric vehicle is well underway, and is set to hit the roads long before its formal launch.
It is anticipated that the upcoming Tata Safari EV will offer the same spacious, three-row family-friendly interior that is found inside the current Safari, but with the addition of the company’s latest electric equipment. With Tata Motors continuing to expand its electric SUV offerings, the Safari EV could expect to provide a more premium option that would come to rival the Harrier EV and hold a higher position within the company’s electric SUV hierarchy.
One of the most pressing questions about the upcoming electric model is the battery specifications and range. The battery technology used within the Safari EV is set to either match or beat its sibling model’s, and should it use the same battery option as the Harrier EV, it would provide a compelling balance of performance and practicality for the Indian buyer. The latest test mule of the upcoming Tata Safari EV does not provide much detail on what the production models will feature due to the sheer amount of camouflage that was worn by the test vehicle. It is expected that much of the exterior design will remain similar to the current petrol-powered model, but with slight tweaks to highlight the electric powertrain and aerodynamic improvements.
Tata Motors has yet to officially release any official details on the specifications, features, battery technology, range, price or release date of the upcoming Tata Safari EV, but more information is likely to follow as testing of the electric three-row SUV continues.
