Tesla new Video shows Autonomous Driving Navigates Challenging Hill Traffic

The recently posted video is yet another confirmation of Tesla’s Full Self Driving capabilities being able to handle “one of the trickiest driving scenarios on the road.” The car can be seen driving on a narrow winding hill road, which “is barely wide enough for two cars to pass each other.

” The car manages to safely navigate the road without any help from the driver, as it slowly moves past the oncoming cars, making sure to slow down and keep enough space for the opposing vehicle to pass. It is evident that the car understands the situation and knows when to move forward and when to wait, as well as how much space it needs to safely avoid any collision.

The viewer of the video pointed out how realistic and smooth the driverless car handled the traffic-jam like situation, exclaiming that it was “real-world AI.” The clip showcases the capabilities of Tesla’s vision-based Full Self Driving software and the progress that it makes on the road, away from “highway or suburban driving.

” Narrow winding roads present a unique challenge due to their lack of space, poor visibility, and the need to either pull over or slow down to let the oncoming cars pass. In this case, the car was able to safely navigate the road without coming to a complete stop each time, making a decision on when to slow down and when to move forward without putting itself in danger or making the other cars slow down more than necessary.

The video has since gone viral and is now a popular topic among those interested in autonomous vehicles, as it serves as an example of how the neural networks of the Full Self Driving software “can generalize to more complex, ‘real-world’ scenarios.” Although the driving assistance program does require the driver to remain alert, videos such as the one above serve to show the extent of the progress that Tesla has made in the branch of driverless cars.
