Tata Motors continues to push its reputation as India’s premier electric vehicle manufacturer with a busy pipeline of new and refreshed models that offer choice across segments, from small sedans to premium SUVs. On the horizon is the recently introduced Sierra.ev, which has a range of trims to suit different needs.
The Sierra.ev, launched in an introductory starting price of around ₹18.79 lakh (ex-showroom) uses the Acti.ev+ platform shared with the Harrier.ev and offers two battery options of 63 kWh and 75 kWh, providing a claimed MIDC range of up to 665 km. It also offers rear-wheel-drive as standard and an optional Quad Wheel Drive all-wheel-drive setup on the top variant, which has strong combined torque and a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 5.8 seconds in Boost mode. The real-world range of the larger battery pack is estimated at 510-530 km and it should support up to 120 kW DC charging, which should add substantial range quickly, along with vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle capabilities and a lifetime high-voltage battery warranty for the first owner. It will be available across Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered A trims, with the Empowered A also being available in all-wheel-drive form, which includes a range of features such as a triple-screen digital cabin layout in higher variants, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof options, ventilated seats and terrain modes. The new Sierra.ev is positioned between the Curvv.ev and Harrier.ev and competes with models such as the Mahindra BE 6 and Hyundai Creta Electric, but with a distinct blend of retro-inspired styling and modern electric performance.
Tata Tigor EV Facelift :
The Tigor.ev is set to receive a facelift later this year or around the festive season, and is likely to match the recently refreshed Tiago in terms of design and features. Patent images indicate a cleaner front face with sleeker LED headlamps, revised bumpers and a more contemporary overall look, while the electric version is likely to get a closed-off grille and unique wheel designs. Inside, buyers can expect a larger touchscreen, a freestanding digital instrument cluster, improved materials and added convenience features such as a 360-degree camera, wireless connectivity and Type-C ports. The powertrain is likely to continue using the Tiago.ev’s battery packs, possibly including packs around 19-26 kWh that offer practical city ranges, while the facelift is set to keep the Tigor.ev competitive in a market increasingly dominated by SUVs, offering a practical four-door electric package at an approachable price point, currently in the low-to-mid teens of lakhs.
Tata Safari EV
The Safari.ev is also set to debut during the festive season of 2026, and will be Tata’s first three-row all-electric SUV and the new flagship of the electric lineup. It will use the same Acti.ev+ architecture as the Harrier.ev, and is likely to use the 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options, which should provide a real-world range of around 500 km depending on configuration, with both rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions likely. The exterior is likely to mirror the latest ICE Safari closely, but to include EV-specific elements such as a sealed front grille, aero-optimised wheels and subtle badging. Inside, reports suggest a technology-focused cabin, which could feature a triple-screen setup, Level 2 ADAS, ventilated and powered seats, and cooled captain chairs in the second row on higher variants, along with vehicle-to-load functionality. With an estimated price range of ₹22-32 lakh, the Safari.ev will be a direct rival to the Mahindra XEV 9S, offering large families a spacey and capable electric option, without compromising on the brand’s known ride comfort and feature content.
Tata Avinya :
Tata is set to enter the premium electric segment with the Avinya brand, and the Avinya X will be its first model. It is set for a 2027 launch and is a futuristic coupe-SUV that will be based on an evolved Chery-JLR Freelander architecture, which has received local software and electronics. The battery packs in the 65-80 kWh range should offer strong highway range, while the design is likely to borrow from the bold concept seen earlier, with sleek LED lighting, muscular proportions and a high-tech cabin. With an estimated price range of ₹35-50 lakh and produced at Tata’s facility in Tamil Nadu, the Avinya X will be sold through a dedicated premium network, and is a demonstration of Tata’s desire to compete in the luxury electric space with a focus on design and technology, along with ownership experience.
Next-Generation Tata Nexon EV
Looking further ahead, the next-generation Nexon EV is set to arrive in 2027 as part of a broader overhaul. Prototypes have been spotted testing, and it is likely to have sharper styling, a more modern cabin with larger digital displays, panoramic sunroof options and advanced safety features such as Level 2 ADAS. The electric version is likely to benefit from denser or larger battery packs to improve range over the current 30-45 kWh offerings, while continuing to leverage Tata’s growing experience in electric powertrains. With a potentially evolved architecture, the new Nexon EV will be set to retain its place as one of India’s best-selling electric SUVs, by combining familiar practicality with fresh design, features and efficiency.
Together, the multi-pronged approach of refreshing volume sellers, expanding into new body styles and price points and moving up-market with dedicated premier offerings, as well as the increasing charging infrastructure and buyer confidence in electric mobility, should see the Sierra.ev’s multiple trims, the imminent Tigor.ev update, the family-friendly Safari.ev and the aspirational Avinya and the next-gen Nexon EV continue to keep Tata at the forefront of India’s electric transition.
